Do hotels brands or franchises tend to work with certain developers? Just wondering because the One Glenwood folks seem to have a good nose for where to develop and Origin would certainly benefit by coat tailing along with them.

I like the images of the interior. It has a modern contemporary design.

It's complicated because you've got four parties -- the developer, the hotel owner, the hotel operator (often but not always the same as the hotel owner), and the hotel franchise. I'm sure there are linkups like you suggest, but the overall trend appears to be polyamory.

More One Glenwood news a public traded company based out by RTP is moving downtown to this building Issuer Direct Corp.  from a subscriber article in the Business Journal today.

""Morrisville-based communications and compliance firm Issuer Direct Corporation has tapped downtown Raleigh for its new headquarters.  The company is moving its corporate offices to a 10,000-square-foot space at downtown Raleigh's One Glenwood building.  Issuer Direct has been steadily growing - both organically and through acquisitions - filling its Morrisville office to capacity. With its 90-person headcount expected to reach triple digits by year-end, Issuer Direct has been assessing its options for eight months, says CEO Brian Balbirnie.  The headquarters search came down to three possibilities, Balbirnie says – staying in the RTP area or relocating to downtown Durham or Raleigh. “It was always about what makes sense for us, our employee demographics  - and what makes sense for retention and recruiting,” he says.   RTP was knocked off the list early as the headcount leaned toward an urban HQ. that makes this building close to 100% fully leased.

They need to start the 2nd building asap and some of the others proposed downtown asap.

I am suspecting they will when you have a fully leased almost building to get another started that would deliver in 2 years or so would be necessary.

Marketing has begun for the 2nd office tower by One Glenwood called Bloc 83.  The building looks really nice and the courtyard is nice.   Now Snoopy's hot dogs is across the street correct?

Quick hotel update for the first time in far too long.

Feels like they're taking their time on this one, but since my last update some windows have gone in and the first layer of siding is finally up to the top.

Saw 1 Glenwood lit up for the first time coming in on Capital tonight. Looks much more impressive than the renders. Caught me off guard way over to the right.

Here is a video for 2nd tower at this site Bloc 83 next to One Glenwood.  Lots of retail and open space.

The parking garage eating up the adjacent block bothers me. Another block that would be wasted. Why not have the tower sitting on top of a parking deck? Make it 20 floors, and save the other lot for something more interesting?

They maxed out the allowable height. If the zoning had allowed for 20 stories parking would have been built in to the first tower.

 Dropped by my new office at One Glenwood today. Photos from afar, the lobby, the views from the 5th floor, the Origin hotel etc. It is a beautiful building with great views.  Looks like Gensler is moving to a ground floor office.

One Glenwood today and the hotel is in the sheetrock stage from what I see.

They now have the fencing up around Glenwood Two and are starting the demo to Dram and Draught  -- which is moving to Glenwood One, I think,

I think this area is going to look good when Tower 2 is up and the courtyard between that and one Glenwood is activated. I am a little bummed about the loss of the building that Dram and Draught is in now. That is a cool little building the really has some character. 

I think overall it is worth it. Pretty soon the Fayetteville Street area,  the Warehouse district and Glenwood South are all going to feel connected, which will make downtown as a whole feel larger.
