Article on potential Bow Tie development.  I really hope that the theater stays.  Looking at the photos, there are a lot of surface parking lots to be developed.  Pushing SA style development down Leigh would be great.  While I realize this is unlikely, building a three level parking deck could provide all the parking Bow Tie needs while freeing up more land to develop.  

On another note, the Bow Tie block in Monroe Ward is ideally suited for a major vertical development.  Hopefully they can make that happen instead of sitting on a parking lot for another decade.

Chasen\Capital Square development moving quickly. Plan of Development filed today for '3 podium style multifamily buildings'. Looks like some other property owners are involved - has the footprint increased here?

Edit - ok looks like Woodford is Chasen just a different llc. But the church property at corner is a new add to this i believe.

Podium style means very likely not more than 5 stories. Good density still.

Cranes are in place for the new tower behind the old hotel. I believe it is suppose to be prefab, so should rise quickly.

Great to hear - frustrating we haven't seen movement yet at Soda Flats or The Outlier sites. Or have we? Been a few weeks since I've been down that way.

Thanks, eandslee. Interesting - perhaps construction isn't as far along? I'm having difficulty seeing a tower crane sufficient to build the entire 12-story building (although weren't there were crawler cranes in place for South Falls? - and those buildings are 12 & 14 stories...)

Typical equipment for a Walter Parks design  - everything is pre-fabbed.  A tower crane just looks better...at least in my opinion.

I don't think this one is a Walter Parks design - I thought it was by the same folks who are doing the 12-story building at 17th and Franklin.

That may be true…but it’s still typical equipment for their designs.

Lacy-owned properties on Arthur Ashe Blvd. being sold for apartment project - Richmond BizSense

Another potential project on AA Blvd.  Lots of surface parking will vanish.  Hopefully, Buzz and Neds will find a suitable new location.

Good news - and thanks to @rjp212for getting ahead of this one a few months back. This is the aforementioned Leigh Addition project. Given it's prime location along the Blvd and the high quality portfolio of the listed architect i can't wait to see renderings for the anticipated 7 or 8 story new build slated for the southern end of this site.

Not holding out hope, but crucial the new building(s) include ample ground floor retail to continue developing a sense of destination around SA.
