I’m cool with the design too.  I like minimalist Euro style buildings.

I do hate the Broad Street entrance (break in the sidewalk).   Going forward it is never acceptable to have driveway looking cutouts anywhere between Willow Lawn and Church Hill.

I wonder if something forces them to reuse the existing entrances?  It looks like the lot itself is not changing at all.

More apartments coming to Scott’s Addition. This time Greystar has purchased the building across from Stella’s for redevelopment.  They plan on razing it to build a 5-story, 350 -unit mixed used building with 10,000 sf of ground floor retail, along with a 350 space parking garage.

oddly enough the article states 350 units, but the URL says 340.

This is amazing.  How many apartments are there supposed to come online now?

• Greystar's 350 unit apartment
• The Summit has 166 units
• Scott's Collection will have 60, 80, and 250 unit apartments (390 total)
• Scotts View will have around 350 units
• The Quality Inn to be converted to 117 units

 

That puts us at around 1,375 new units to come online for Scott's Addition!  That is going to transform the neighborhood.

Interbake Phase 2 I’m guessing about 150ish.  

Quality Inn Phase 2 @ 12 stories, 205 units.

Recent study says about 30 sidewalks are missing, and an additional 30 are inadequate.   I really hope one of these days, there will be sidewalks throughout, power lines buried, lamp posts and street trees installed, bike lanes painted and parking restricted within the sight lines of intersections. One can dream!

Ha.  2 years ago I put in a request to fix a section of sidewalk near my house.  Two of the squares had gotten to be about 1 foot apart in height, making a tripping hazard and impassible for people on wheelchairs. 

After repeated calls to my city council member, a month or so ago I got a call about it.  They said they couldn't fix it anytime soon and simply offered to demolish those squares of concrete to make the dirt ground level.  A bit infuriating.

The hotel is being rehabbed. The parking garage is what is being torn down to be replaced with a 12 story building with a new parking garage.

Also, while doing a search for any sort of rendering for the Quailty Inn redevelopment, I did come across  a colored rendering of the development next to Lunch/Supper

RJP212 is sharing a different project than the hotel block. This is the project that currently has a tower crane.

A lot of projects to keep track of now in SA. Will update the map to the best of my ability.

Also, that colored rendering of the Summit looks much better than the preliminary 3D SketchUp mockup given in the original BizSense article announcing the development. I'm a lot more excited for it.

Nice article about a food hall opening in Scott's Addition.  If it is half as successful as Union Market or Chelsea Market, this will be a great addition to the city.

I believe the previous mentioned food hall, went all office. However, they announced a new one today! Veil plans on moving their tasting room to the new location, plus 18 other vendors. Will be located a block west of the Dairy Bar.

This project is dead and in its place will rise a 2 story medical building. Womp womp.

A dialysis center! What a great gateway to Scott's Addition and the Museum District!!! Even FultzSingh's clean lines can't get me excited about the use and lack of density.
