Scott's Addition Development

Recommended Posts

Ha.  2 years ago I put in a request to fix a section of sidewalk near my house.  Two of the squares had gotten to be about 1 foot apart in height, making a tripping hazard and impassible for people on wheelchairs.

After repeated calls to my city council member, a month or so ago I got a call about it.  They said they couldn't fix it anytime soon and simply offered to demolish those squares of concrete to make the dirt ground level.  A bit infuriating.

RJP212 is sharing a different project than the hotel block. This is the project that currently has a tower crane.

roger that.

I see this on the  map  with the projects list, but it's not 12 floors and the link doesn't have an image of anything, looks like we'll have to wait and see.

A lot of projects to keep track of now in SA. Will update the map to the best of my ability.

Also, that colored rendering of the Summit looks much better than the preliminary 3D SketchUp mockup given in the original BizSense article announcing the development. I'm a lot more excited for it.

So anyway, overall, we have:

  • GreyStar Relay Foods (5 stories)
  • Interbake Foods (5 stories)
  • Scott's Collection I (5 stories)
  • Scott's Collection II (5 stories)
  • The Nest (6 stories)
  • The Summit (7 stories)
  • Scott's View (7 story + 8 story)
  • Scott's Collection III (11 stories)
  • Quality Inn redevelopment (12 stories)

'Build high and densify' indeed

If someone told me this area would grow like it is 10 years ago, we'll,  no one would have said that.

Nice article about a food hall opening in Scott's Addition.  If it is half as successful as Union Market or Chelsea Market, this will be a great addition to the city.

I believe the previous mentioned food hall, went all office. However, they announced a new one today! Veil plans on moving their tasting room to the new location, plus 18 other vendors. Will be located a block west of the Dairy Bar.

Haven't seen this before.  Looks to be the location of the old Baileys Automotive Insurance. I like it! :good:

7500 sf of ground floor retail space and 23-ish apartments.

A dialysis center! What a great gateway to Scott's Addition and the Museum District!!! Even FultzSingh's clean lines can't get me excited about the use and lack of density.

What a waste.  Why can’t this medical provider just occupy the first floor of the apartment building?
I hope this proposal dies as quickly as the last.

Definitely seems odd in what may be the youngest populated area of the city.

That’s what this is?
I thought this was the office building (also on Marshall?) ...or was that proposal a flash in the pan and this replaced it?   I was expecting a 3-4 floor office building at this location.

This is a more exciting development:)

This looks cool. Winery, restaurant and park space planned for the western edge of Scott’s Addition. Looks to continue to tie into the planned “rail trail” that would ultimately run from SA to the Science Museum.

I guess people could argue this is either Scott's Addition or a part of Museum District, but according to Loopnet, pretty much the entire block bound by Cutshaw, Shepperd, Grace and Wayne is on the market.  Nearly 2 acres for $5.5 million.  I imagine someone will snatch it up quickly and it could be an interesting redevelopment project.

This has finally sold for $5.4 million.  No immediate plans to redevelop but you know it’s coming.

I'm getting pretty excited about Broad Street.

Whole Foods and CarMax are coming near Lee's Chicken.

New apartments are going along Broad near Scotts Addition.

UMF is having a major development on its property abut Broad.

The old DGIF area is being redeveloped.

The general assembly building is being redeveloped.

Anything I'm missing?  When is that old hotel on Broad slated to be redeveloped?

Isn't the old Comfort Inn under way?

Also:

Children's Hospital (added height)
Science Museum frontage park
The new Dialysis Center or whatever at Thompson!!!
