Well…I hate to see the current owners sell because they’ve done a great job saving the team and making them contenders in the NHL and one of the best organizations.  But…I can understand if they’d like to make their money back.

My brother was fishing up near Yellowknife NT a few years back and when in Canada,  he always wears a Preds jersey that i gave him back in early 2000's.  He was waiting on plane to fly out of his camp at Great Slave Lake, when some guy starts yelling and running towards him.   It was Herb Fritsch.   He was up there fishing as well and had to meet the guy wearing the Preds jersey in such a remote part of Canada.  He seems like a good guy and brought a lot of stability to the ownership group.   Am sad to see him go.

Bridgestone Arena will be reopened for the scheduled game between the Preds and Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday evening. Two previous games Nov. 25 and 26 were postponed due to the flood caused by a water main break along 6th Ave. South.

"We cannot say thank you enough to everyone that has worked tirelessly to restore Bridgestone Arena and ready it for Preds games and events once again,” Predators president and CEO Sean Henry said in a statement. “More than 30 public agencies and private companies have mobilized with us in our mission to safely reopen the venue for games and events this week.

“…We look forward to hosting 17,000 of hockey's best fans on Tuesday for our game with the Anaheim Ducks and we thank everyone for their patience as we continue with the restoration." 

Bridgestone’s main concourse and event levels were flooded due to the break, which was first reported around 6 a.m. on Friday morning near the Sixth Avenue garage.

Bridgestone Arena was ranked No. 1 in Stadium Journey's rankings of all 32 NHL arenas for the 2022-23 season with a score of 4.86/5. The scoring system is based on several criteria including food, atmosphere, neighborhood, fan support, access and return on investment.

"When Nashville was first awarded an NHL franchise in 1997, many did not think hockey in the state, better known for its allegiance to the University of Tennessee and 'Rocky Top' would work," writes David Welch of Stadium Journey. With 880,660 tickets sold and $78,515,989.80 in total gross revenue (inclusive solely of show and concert tickets), Bridgestone Arena ranks fourth in the U.S. for ticket sales in Pollstar’s Fourth Quarter Report. Bridgestone Arena ranks behind Madison Square Garden (New York, N.Y.), Kia Forum (Inglewood, Calif.) and Dickies Arena (Fort Worth, Texas) in ticket sales.

In Billboard’s Year-in Touring Bulletin, Bridgestone Arena ranks third in the U.S. for total attendance with 690,000 attendees and $62 million in revenue behind Madison Square Garden (New York, N.Y.) and Kia Forum (Inglewood, Calif.). 

Since the doors first opened in 1996, Bridgestone arena has hosted more than 27 million guests. Bridgestone Arena now has 16 consecutive and 19 overall nominations for the Pollstar Magazine Arena Year of the Award, winning the award in 2014, 2017 and 2023.

Pretty incredible that the arena in our midsized metro sells tickets in the stratosphere of the DFW metroplex, ranking ahead of arenas in top 10 metro areas like Chicago, DC, Philadelphia, Houston, and Atlanta.

BetMGM Sports Lounge Restaurant & Bar is opening at Bridgestone Arena today.  Located above the Nashville Locker Room store, with an external entrance on Fifth Avenue, the 8,753-square-foot restaurant will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Hours may vary on game and event days.

I need to stop in to see how this compares to Patron. It’s in such a weird spot that I always forget it’s there. Bridgestone is good at a lot of things but they do have some opportunities when it comes to activating some of the available space in that arena.

Bridgestone Arena broke ground 30 years ago today.  I remember being at the ceremony in the uneven surface lot at Broadway and 5th Ave. with Mayor Bredesen and the rest of us who were on the Arena Advisory Council.  It was nearly as cold as it has been this past week.

Still looks like it could have been built yesterday!  What a sleek design... and the big courtyard that opens up to Broadway was a stroke of genius!  Semi-related sidenote:  I know Broadway has gotten a little gaudy these days, but in my opinion it's still a massive improvement over this beige, gray, largely dead cityscape shown above!

I just wish we could have kind of frozen it in time maybe around 12-15 years ago. To me that was basically when Broadway was at it's best. Downtown was clean and accessible but not overrun. Even Fri and Sat nights were not too terrible unless there was some kind of event going on. 

If anyone ever brings up Broadway and how it changed I always joke that the day Robert's took the booths out and replaced them with high tops was the moment that started it all.
