You know the economy is bad when a taxpayer funded project has come to a complete halt. No high rises, no corporate headquarters, no tower cranes...nothing. Sad times. :(

Why are you saying something that is completely without merit?

“Phil Mays, principal with RocaPoint, said the company has a long-term plan for the site that is not incumbent on current economic factors. It can time the market to sell the properties when it makes sense, and can adjust plans as needed to the changing habits and expectations of the public.

Already, RocaPoint has directed designs to build more outdoor work spaces, larger staircases and more distanced office spaces into its plan for the county office building. It could shift designs elsewhere as needed when they arise, he said.

RocaPoint already has a number of national brands interested in the development, but Mays said it is too early in the process for hard commitments.”

Wasn't there a movie theater as part of the development?  I  wonder if that is still in the works (I hope it is, I really miss going and hope that industry rebounds).

Sounds like Mr. Mays is saying don’t hold your breath waiting for construction to start. Groundbreaking means nothing. Remember the elaborate groundbreaking for the Pinnacle?
Sounds  like he is not real gung ho on the economy for the foreseeable future which is understandable after the recent elections. As for the P&C, they are in Charleston where a 5 story building IS a tower.

I agree. Instead of a beautiful new building we are stuck with a crappy grass meadow. :cry:They could at least plant some dandelions or something.

They never actually broke ground for the Pinnacle, they just had a ceremony. the parking lot did not even close. That was a private project. This is a major PUBLIC/private project that has already sold bonds.  You don't grade a site this big just to give it over to the weeds.

Really, man, being negative 100% of the time is no way to go through life.

As usual we have some folks in here that are ungrateful. Be glad for what is getting built. This is going to be a nice building. Although I like height too, not everything has to be tall. If you have to have height that's why we have choices of cities to choose from. I for one am glad things are getting built. Especially during a pandemic. Be grateful.
