Possibly two more five star hotels in Nashville than the Hermitage :o That's incredible. I remember as a kid wishing Nashville would have a Westin, now there is so much proposed and going on its insane. Also apparently Intercontinental is still scouting Nashville for a flagship hotel, nothing concrete yet (and probably for awhile) but the fact they are still doing so after Palmer's fiasco says a lot about the city XD

I’m not sure but I don’t think the W hotel will be 5 Star. Doesn’t mean it won’t be a great hotel though. The Thompson in the area isn’t 5 stars but it’s gotten rave reviews.

The Thompson is so far beyond star ratings; its truly an exceptional building inside. These boutique hotels Nashville is building (I include the Thompson here) are where the true luxury is. The Westin is absolutely gross. I was in a suite this past weekend, and it was like a cheap version of an old Vegas casino suite.

I'm just gonna stop explaining how the whole "five star hotel" thing works.  lol

I guess I should rather say that it’s not a brand that would typically receive a 5 Star rating, for whatever that is worth. Would that make more sense?

It does... my comment wasn't directed at you though, to be clear.  :)  It's not even a big deal... I just think it's worth clarifying that hotels are awarded five stars, not built as five star properties.

No, the clarification was definitely pertinent. Wouldn’t that be something if we all were celebrating the SAP project scoring a “5 star” Four Season’s, only to find out it had been awarded 4 stars ;)

Is Alex Partner the silent partner in the W Hotel project? Does anyone think this will ever break ground?

I hope soon. That lot is an eyesore in an otherwise thriving part of town. I’m in the area quite frequently and try to keep tabs on it but there hasn’t been any activity that I’ve been aware of anytime recently. I’ll keep an eye on it.

I saw construction foremen on the Embassy site yesterday with blueprints...hopefully a good sign.

Hope the 'vylle rumors are true. Realize this is for W, but heard anything about the start of Embassy Suites?
