A great example of how to design a new building that is an aesthetic fit with its surroundings.     In this case, in an area of red brick, turn of the century industrial buildings.     I really like the way this one turned out.

I really love the way this turned out. It looks like an older building that has been modernized.

This is a great example of how materials and finishes can really make a building. Structurally it isn't that unique (it's a box), but the finishes take it over the top and reveal quality and it meshes with the surroundings very well. I love the dark metal accents on the old school brick. If someone told me that this was a 100 year old warehouse that had been refurbished I would easily believe them. I predict this building will age incredibly well.

For some reason this font/design reminds me of a Ouija board, which seems ironic considering this is a Lifeway building. Anybody else see it?

I hadn't seen that, but now that you mention it ..   What caught my eye was the pool table in the break room. That would have gone over like a lead balloon in my fundamentalist upbringing. Amazing how things change over 40-50 years!

 

What I really liked was the grand piano on the balcony ..  since I've sold my real piano and now have an electric, I may have to stroll over sometime and do a little southern gospel for them. If the roof doesn't crash in on me when I darken the doorway!

Every time I hear/read "joyful noise", it makes me think of this record. This was written by a guy called Robert Hood - a very influential and old school Detroit Techno producer and deejay. He was later ordained as a minister at some point in his life and moved to Alabama, but I don't know what church he's at.

 

Anyway, here's the record. He sampled "We Magnify Your Name" by Shekinah Glory Ministry quite liberally and to great effect. This record goes down beautifully on a dancefloor.

LifeWay has an undisclosed buyer for its 280,000 sq. ft. office building on the northern edge of Capitol View. No sale price has been made available yet. 

The ever-decreasing LifeWay staff is now working primarily from their homes.

Interesting.  So they go from a multi-acre behemoth of a campus (Nashville Yards)…to this modest office tower…and now to mostly working at home.  Strange how quickly times change.
