Lots of infill houses, duplexes, townhomes and apartments in this area.  Here are some of it.  New apartments going up near Lower Tuck and Blue Blaze brewery not apart of Savona Mill.

Commercial strip adjacent to the sidewalk along Tuckaseegee is nearly finished with renovations/urbanist upfitting.  This is located a couple hundred yards west of the roundabout where berryhill, thrift, tuckaseegee all converge.  There's a ton happening in this part of town from the massive Savona Mill redo to infill residential along Tuckaseegee to the adaptive reuse projects along Thrift and Jay Streets.  However, for some reason, the area isn't really all tied together as walkable.

Theres some plans in the works to tie some of these sites together. Building a mixed use district is only 60% of the process, linking it with walkability is at least 40%. Just look at the Montford Park area, lots of people live over there now, but its a collection of buildings, vs a community.

This is a great observation. Montford + Park Road SC + Selwyn could have been one of the most active and attractive business districts in the South if there was any pedestrian friendliness at all (the Virginia Highlands of Charlotte but with destination retail). Unfortunately we are stuck with a few mediocre bars, duller than average restaurants and a couple of giant parking lots instead.

Also, painting dark gray is so two years ago, why would anyone ever paint a whole block of buildings the same color, what a shame. What a banal stretch of street with no character what so ever.

Not only lots of  new apartments at Savona Mill but lots around the area too.  Here are the car less ones by Grubb on State St and new ones underway on Gesco St next to the Lower Tuck office buildings recently renovated.   Lots of new growth in this area.

These townhouses are stunning, from this perspective. I guess I've seen them, or their sisters, from West Fourth (Ext), but never this side. This, IMO, rivals what you would see...in Europe, and not the crappy parts!

this area continues to boom.  Photos from yesterday and look at that modern duplex.  There are quite a few of these all over intown neighborhoods.  Some of those new apartments being framed are at Savona Mill.  Grubb's carless apartment building is under construction I still have my doubts on this location for this type of project.  (Last photo)
