This feels like another potential game-changer for the overall Gulch area because of the way it helps connect the northern end of the neighborhood with the southern end. Not to mention it serves as a nice gateway for pedestrians who regularly make the walk from the West End hotels to events downtown.

From the same angle and time of day, I think the newer building rendering would be amazing with the extra surfaces with trees, missing in the old rendering.

Amazon just bought Whole Foods, and now I'm hoping it doesn't have an affect on future store leases/commitments that were in place before the buyout.

Whole Foods will now be able to go back to their rapid expansion model that they abandoned due to activist investors.  They were planning for 1,200 stores.  They have 400+ now.

Exactly what I was going to say. Now you'll have an absolute powerhouse dynamic in Whole Foods that'll elevate the brand and expand it immensely.

The new owners might even try droning veggie pizza to the back yard patio.  They may give customers the option of leasing a drone port-pad just for that purpose.

Me and William have been talking about the Whole Foods scenario for a couple of months now. I knew they were in trouble and they had to do something that would make them relevant again. This is what they needed to do. The leadership and corporate offices stay put in Austin, do that bodes well for the status quo of the expansion plan.

 

I don't think this will have any affect on the proposed store downtown.

Demolition of the Mazda Dealership will begin in the next 3 weeks according tot he Nashville Post (The article is locked so i posted it below)

Hendersonville-based Environment Abatement Inc. will handle the demolition of the ex-Mazda dealership building located on Broadway and at which a mixed-use tower anchored by Whole Foods is planned.

Demo will start within three weeks, according to source who asked to go unnamed. .

Austin-based Endeavor Real Estate Group will develop the project, to include a 26-story structure that will rise at the northwest corner of the intersection of 12th Avenue North and Broadway in the North Gulch. Apartments and office space are part of the mix.

Jamil Alam, Endeavor managing principal, could not be reached for comment related to a possible groundbreaking.

Metro has approved all site and concept plans.

Endeavor has created Broadway Whiskey Partners to undertake the project.

The project could carry a price tag of about $100 million, according to previous media reports.

The building would rise about 320 feet, ranking it among Nashville's 20 tallest if standing today.

The Nashville office Turner Construction will serve as general contractor.

I saw this yesterday and gave to WW. The only thing I can add is I saw worker at site and asked when Demo was to start and who was doing it. I am sure Turner has subcontracted this company out.

I could be wrong, but I had in my head that this would be slightly taller... around 305 feet?

Post above says 320'...so that will basically be the same height as the Westin.

That's been happening a lot though. The Pinnacle seemed odd to me when it was under construction, but now it's surrounded by other tall buildings. Same thing with the Westin.
