Some mention here.  http://grcity.us/design-and-development-services/Economic-Development/Smartzone/SZ%20Agenda%20Packet%2001-15-16.pdf

This PDF is from January of this year.  Page 2 and 3.

Start Garden seems to be backing along with Consumers Energy. (at least a feasibility study)

As referenced in this past post.

Ah, I bet that's it.

from the GRBJ.

October 10, 2011

The former Imperial Metals building, at 801-803 Ionia Ave. NW, has changed hands. County records show 801 Ionia LLC recently closed on the deal with Irish Twins LLC.

A sales price wasn’t listed because an affidavit was filed, but the vacant building’s 2011 SEV was $44,800. Rockford Construction Co. CFO Kurt Hassberger is, what the state refers to as, the registered agent for the LLC and he said a user hasn’t committed to the site so a construction plan hasn’t been ironed out as of yet.

Does this mean that Kurt Hassberger is the Registered agent for 801 Ionia LLC?

Also in this document "prepared for"

http://grcity.us/design-and-development-services/Economic-Development/GIS%20Documents/840%20Ottawa%20NW%20Phase%20II.pdf

If Rockford Construction owns 801, do they use companies like Copperrock to do the work. Or does Rockford do the work themselves.

Don't know. Strangely, 801 Ionia did appear on the permit list but now no longer does.

Looks like 801 Ionia, or maybe its storage building is being turned into a bar.

I am a but confused by this one because the only part of the property that seems to fit would be the black painted structure off of Ottawa. Maybe this is for the Garage?  They throw events using that parking lot.

Maybe the full facility is going to be a bar.

From the ArtPrize Venue page for 801 Ionia.

"801 Ionia is located in the Monroe North Business District. Our property is the future home to a restaurant/bar and mixed use facility. We are located directly across from the Garage Bar and Auto Body Fix It Shop who are also participating ArtPrize venues. 801 Ionia and the Monroe North Business Association are excited to welcome ArtPrize guests to our neighborhood!"

Mixed use?  That is my question.

I have heard that Start Garden is still looking to do a Tech Shop and this location was one of the spots they wanted to use.

I heard they were delayed and that Tech Shop requires a $100,000 feasibility study. So it would be a far bit off.

I wonder what this will turn into, there is a lot of space in that building.

My friends who own businesses in the North Monroe district have mentioned a Mexican restaurant/bar coming to the neighborhood. I have no idea if that is what it is going to be, but it would make sense as no exact location has been mentioned.

I found these interesting- We are seeking approval to serve food out of our mobile kitchen at 822 Ottawa Ave NW (outbuilding located on the northwest corner of the property at 801 Ionia) in conjunction with the opening of a new restaurant.

AND THIS;)

From time to time we may install luxury mobile bathrooms.

Looks to be same people that are looking to put a restaurant in the old Brian's Books.

Zoko 822 opened recently.  Has anyone been there?

I went there for a Sunday lunch/brunch about a month ago and we were two of six people in there. Seems like it should have been a little busier. Tasty food and drinks though. I hope they do well.
