Rollins will be taking over more of the east end of downtown Winter Park as they build the “Innovation Triangle”:

I’m intrigued Cornell is already relocating. Seems like hardly any time has passed since they moved into the current building on campus.

Went there once after a scenic boat tour. Nice museum, small but interesting stuff. And free from what I can recall.

It always struck me as an odd location for Cornell at the center of campus. I like this idea of locating in downtown WP and hopefully gaining some pedestrian activity that otherwise wouldn’t have made the journey over Fairbanks.

Winter Park city commissioners still want to buy the downtown post office. Only problem is, they don’t have the money:

Winter Park to try buying post office after string of failed negotiations

With OCPS saying they want to redevelop the Orange Tech campus in Winter Park, I wonder if there would be a way for that site to handle both a new college and a new post office.

It’s certainly a thought although I really do prefer having a post office in downtown proper (although the downtown Orlando and WG branches are mere shadows of their former selves). Even though no one is a bigger fan of expanding parks than I am, I confess to having real angst about this. There’s not a lot of great ‘60’s buildings around the area but this one with its amazing mural is awesome. Paired with the fact it’s still in use for its original purpose and with that LBJ cornerstone, it’s a keeper for me. Given how much the Republican Party loathes the Postal Service (which is ironic given that the GOP’s rural supporters are among the biggest beneficiaries of what the post office does) is just icing on the cake.

Wild Fork Foods, a Miami-based meat and seafood retailer featuring unusual choices in addition to more standard fare, is replacing the Mattress One location at Fairbanks and Orlando Avenues. Quite a bit of a redo in the process:

Oh boy, major drama over Luma and its space on Park Avenue. The Battaglia family is an FFO going back to the days when citrus was king hereabouts.

It could turn out even spicier than a combined episode of Dallas and Dynasty. Stay tuned:

Biggest issue is having a dock to welcome the 18 wheeler trucks. In the past they’ve considered the old telephone company property directly across the street from the Scientology church.

Nothing about commercial real estate surprises me. But that insanely cheap rental rate they were paying does. I know of multiple places on Park Ave paying $50+.

Because Scott once again did zero actual research I went to the clerk of court site and read the filings.

1. As always, F the landlord. Obviously the guy sucks a ton.

2. Luma has zero case and owes a ton of money. They were being sued for 100s of 1000s first and this is a counter-claim. Be nice if Scott would mention that. Wonder if Bill France still owns it?

Those are lifted from Luma's claims. Their entire claim that they don't owe back rent hinges on the landlord changing names. I mean be sweet if they win on that because I've had that happen and be awesome to be like nope this lease isn't real anymore. They have done the 180 on the renewal as it fits them. They had their request denied by the judge for more time/evidence. This thing should settle soon I'm sure. There is really nothing there for either side at this point. Only winners here are the lawyers. Luma didn't want to renew there, landlord found a new tenant. Everyone should be happy.

BTW there is definitely some huge mess going on with the Battaglia family. They are all suing each other for ownership so I'm sure Luma and other tenants are dealing with a really garbage situation. Would not want to be that new Miami restaurant going in.

And to think it used to be mostly the Dr. Phillips and Meiner families among our first tier clans that had the drama!

It appears he is silently involved but this article is old. I knew they were spun out a few years ago from Concentrics
