Major news for Charleston and DI. Blackbaud building a whole new campus. There old building will be an option for a new company to move in albeit it will be a few years.

I was not real clear on that.  The existing office is between the Clements Ferry Rd and the Daniel Island Entrance ramps.  The NEW office will be between the Daniel Island Entrance ramp and the DI EXIT ramp.  Now Blackbaud is to the West of Benefitfocus, Hampton Inn and the Mobile Phone (I forget the brand) office buildings. The new buildings will be EAST of those.

The newest apartments across from the Publix by 526 on Daniel Island and a couple more from the island development. Daniel Island's downtown is getting quite dense.

22 acre Mixed Use project is onboard for Daniel Island

The 22-acre development will be completed in phases over several years. It will include two new public-access piers, about 300 condominium and townhouse units, and retail and restaurant offerings along the Wando River.

The first phase, about 5.5 acres along the waterfront, will include 50 to 60 residences, about 14,000 square feet of  retail and restaurant space and a dock, said Miller Harper of East West Partners. It’s expected to be completed in 2021.

Jan 3,  2019 - Daniel Island business update:

Daniel Island is entering its third decade of commercial growth and more and more businesses are calling the island home. Currently there are 1.4 million square feet of commercial space in 52 buildings on Daniel Island, with another 600,000 square feet to be built. Our two largest employers, Blackbaud and Benefitfocus, employee 2,000 of the 6,000 individuals who work here every day. Those two employers have room to expand even more, potentially adding another 1,300 employees to the daytime population of Daniel Island. By our estimates, there are 225 individual businesses that currently work out of the 52 commercial buildings. In the past four years, nearly 60 new businesses have decided to make Daniel Island their primary address. There are another 80 new home-based businesses that have incorporated during that same period.

It is about time since they abandoned the idea of terminal on Daniel Island long ago.   Since they waited so long they need to get market value even if it takes a while given the market today.   Obviously high density residential is the best option.

the townhomes start at 1.5 M the condos start at 1.2 M that are photographed
