My guess it will still be an Intercontinental.  I dont know for sure, but they wanted to be at that site for years when ASP had it.

I am sure you can see us burning from there. JK, its not just construction but tourism both national and international tourism driving a lot of this growth. Just heard today that TN leads the world in international tourism growth. Heard that on a local TV Station.

The tech sector is growing along with mfg, healthcare, and many other sectors of the economy.

But I hear Orlando is booming as well.

Think of Orlando as booming but not all in one location. Our downtown isn't getting as vertical!

But that is awesome for you all . I Don't see it slowing down up there. Very exciting to see other regional cities growing!

Many sunbelt cities and their suburbs in general are booming in response to the continued mass migration from the Northeast / Midwest and (more recently) Silicon Valley, because of the low cost of living / doing business and the relatively favorable climate 

They will likely become the "major" cities of the future.

As has been rumored, there are, indeed conversations with Four Seasons for the hotel portion of the development.

Richard Kershaw, senior project manager with The Congress Group (which is part of SAP), emailed the Post the following:

“As we have previously stated, we are in advanced negotiations with a five-star hotel brand. While we have made exciting progress, we do not have an agreement in place to announce at this time.”

Unfortunately with the land sale not closed, financing not in place, and hotel deal not signed, this project is a long ways away, but it does have some real developers behind it.

Interesting tidbit in the Post article:

Of note, SAP has leased space in the 222 2nd building, located near Market Street, for the project’s use, the company confirmed.

This is the same news we had on here. I think the office is on the 19th floor. I saw the permit a week or so ago.

I've seen a few people say the Four Seasons is pretty much a done deal for this development.  Any rumors right now on a groundbreaking?

I'm as excited for this project as I am for Nashville Yards. 540 feet isn't huge, but it will add another 500+ to our skyline. It will really help us look filled out, especially when driving inbound on I-40 West. I can't wait to drive home from Knoxville one day and finally see this baby up.

This and One KVB Circle are real lookers. I'm betting Amazon tower will be as well.

Never expected it, but I do believe Nashville will outstrip Austin in terms of rate-of-transformation of the skyline.

I agree.  Austin is getting to the point where it has already been transformed, so new towers are not a big deal.  The real question is what city will eventually take the reigns from Nashville?  I don't see any challengers.

Here and now, with absolutely no data or real reasoning, I’m going to say Savannah. Give it ten to fifteen years.

If I had to guess, I would say Raleigh.  But I am really surprised that Raleigh doesn't show any signs of that right now despite its boom town persona.

I don’t either, unless maybe a city like Tampa. I only say that because it seems to be catching fire, has Water Street Tampa starting up, what with its 15-20 high rises by itself, and because it’s skyline is only modestly endowed, the transition could be radical.

How many high-rises are under construction or under prep work in Nashville? Every single time I go through downtown I see two additional cranes. It truly looks insane, something I've never seen as I've spent my entire life here.
