It's just we have so many blue glass buildings, the skyline is starting too look boring. Come on Architecture companies do something different!

HCA, Lifeway, Healthstream,  Lea, 908, 19th and Broadway, Hyatt House, Skyhouse, SoBro, Ommi, Drury, TriBrand Marriott, Cambria, Margaritaville, AT & T, Fifth Third, Nashville City Center, Renaissance, Tennessee Tower, Sheraton, Double Tree, UBS, L & C, Source, Viridian, Cumberland, Tennessean, Endeavor, Encore, Joseph, Parkway, Broadstone,  etc, etc are not blue glass.

The all glass buildings don't even amount to half of the buildings in the city.

Get ready for Circle South and One22One. Even the Giarratana twins will have a lot of it.

Good. Glass buildings look new now, five years from now, 30 years from now. See One Nashville as an example. It looks like it was just built. New is what people will pay top dollar to live and work in. No one will pay big money for something old looking and decrepit. The people behind these projects know what they're doing.

Architectural trends change constantly.  I'm sure those people building the 'international style' boxes in the sixties thought they'd never go out of style, but here we are.   Also, are you implying that any building that isn't all glass is "old looking and decrepit?"

One Nashville doesn't look old and decrepit and its 36 years old.

Also, who determines what out of style is?

Test of time.  Some structures age very well…and some don’t.  Like the Chrysler bldg.  Aged VERY well.  Renaissance Hotel in Nashville…not so much.   I think the JWM will always look cool…and Bridgestone Arena actually looks cooler now than it did when it was built (it was a little ahead of its time).   Not all glass buildings will age well…but some will.  I don’t think 505 will age well.  It’s not great to look at now…and won’t get better with time.  Batman building isn’t the greatest architecture…but the “batman” look and spires make it stand out.  The stacked boxes thing that Tony is about to build (Alcove?) will look a little ahead of its time in Nashville for awhile…but I wonder what it will look like 30 years from now.

I think about the Lee Greenwood building on Music Row…Emerald Studios, I believe?  Everything in there was done in 80’s green, including the bath tiles…toilet is green…with gold fixtures.  I’m sure at the time, it was super-stylish and unique and cool.  Now?  It’s like you took a hit of acid when you see it all together.

Whether One Nashville looks old is entirely subjective, but it's also just one building.  In other words, as small a sample size as you could possibly get.

In regards to who determines what is out of style, apparently you think you do since you've made the declaration that any non-glass building looks "old and decrepit"... just sayin!  haha ;)

In any case, we may just have to agree to disagree on this one, which is perfectly fine.  Thank you for the conversation, and welcome to the forum! :)

It's sort of interesting how often things are being value-engineered in skyscrapers now, specifically in the US. You see these extravagant buildings going up across the world and yet it feels like such a struggle to even put a spire on a building in the US now. I know there's a lot of recent financial histroy behind that, but it would be nice to see a resurgence in crowns and other flair.

One Nashville is also NOT remarkable architecture.

What's out of style is like pornography... you know it when you see it.
