Austin & Austin Metro Projects Compilation

A crane base is in place for the 1801 State office tower.  I believe it will have two cranes.  But State projects don't have to file all the City building permits that private projects file, so info about State projects is sometimes difficult to obtain.

This is the far NE corner of downtown, and currently there is only one tower crane up - for the Alexan residential tower.  But within 3-6 months there should be 10 in this small area:

1801 Congress State office building - 2

1601 Congress State office building - 1

DKR Stadium - 2 (at center top in the photo)

1836 San Jancinto office building - 1 (at right center in the photo where the lane closure is)

Huston Residential Tower - 2

Alexan Residential Tower -1

Block 164 U.T. office building -1 (a.k.a. Brackenridge Tower #1)

Here's the 1601 Congress office building site.  The crane at center top is the Alexan.

A 19-story office building has been proposed for the Broadmoor development in far north Austin across the street from the Domain.  The listing shows a rendering of two ~19-story office buildings.  So it is not clear which one is being proposed.  But they share a parking garage, so they are part of the same project.   Also, the developer has filed a permit to build 3,000 apartments in this development.  That sounds like a lot, but that's less than the average three weeks worth of population growth this decade.

This article states that the Leg funded Phase II of the Capitol Complex project this past session.  Phase II includes two more office buildings - 1500 Congress and 1501 Lavaca.  The one on Lavaca looks to be a decent size while the 1500 Congress building looks rather small.

1501 Lavaca.  It's amazing that someone signed off on this one.

I don't normally post about mid-rises unless there is something significant about them because there are too many too keep up with.  But this hotel and condo proposal is directly south of the river at the intersection of South Lamar and Riverside, and it will help expand downtown beyond its tightly zoned borders.

Elevations were released today on a City website for a 16-story ~230' bank building.  Hardly worth noting, BUT it is replacing a surface lot and drive through bank.  But unfortunately the the "tower" will still have a drive through bank.  A tiny little rendering is included with the elevations.

The Capitol Complex project added a third webcam showing the excavation for underground parking that will be under the grassy mall that is replacing Congress Ave.  There are now three huge pits by the Texas History Museum for Capitol Complex projects.

The three cranes working the North Austin State Government Complex can be seen several miles away on the horizon.  The crane on the right is for an unknown U.T. project, and the two cranes working the stadium expansion are just out of view to the right.  The sky is starting to fill up with cranes again.  I sure hope any recession holds off for a while.

I merged the Austin U/C, Austin Proposed, West Campus and Suburban Austin project threads into this one thread.  Any tower 400' or taller gets its own thread.  I will also create threads for some of the more interesting 300' towers.  Everything else will go in this thread.
