Not liking that new giant full page ad feature, but if it keeps the site free and  in business we'll go with it.  :)  

That's the first crane for this project in the background of this photo.  Those are the Four Seasons condos behind the crane and the Marriott will be doing an excellent job of blocking some of their views.  The article below the photo is about the Railyard condos in the foreground being put on the market for sale.  Before going up for sale developers were offering up to $1,000 per sq. ft. for the property.  The twoish blocks between the Railyard condos and the Marriott is the site of the proposed Convention Center expansion.  About half of the Railyard condos were already demolished for a previous Convention Center expansion.   The Railyard was built as apartments in the early '80s when this area was rather derelict and undesirable.  The residents were early downtown residential pioneers.

The two cranes on the left are for this project.  On election night, our usually non-committal mayor said something about moving forward with the convention center expansion during his new term.  That expansion would be on the blocks of low-rise structures at the bottom of this photo.
