Plans for 70 Rainey's sister project located next door moved forward.  Documents were filed with the city two weeks ago for utility connections.  This project will preserve the two bungalows located on the site which will be bars/restaurants and a nine-story mixed use building will go up behind it.  At last word there is a below ground music venue planned for the nine-story building.  This will anchor the southern end of the Rainey St. Entertainment District.  It's great to see an effort like this to enhance the night life in the area as most of the real estate is being gobbled up for hotel and residential towers.

Here's one of the drawings filed with the city.

This one shows the just completed Fairmont - a big blue rectangle by day, but it has the ability to do an almost Vegas-like LED light show at night.

This one shows the ridiculous Homewood Suites Hotel that has been U/C for a long time.  Crane nerds should notice the seven or so cranes on each side of the Homewood suites building a plethora of mid-rises on the height restricted east side of I-35.

Here's a zoomed in view of that fabulous Homewood Suites paint job:

This is from the 70 Rainey website.  Move ins begin in early 2019.  This is the Rainey St. Entertainment District, and the strip of old homes turned into bars and restaurant is hidden under the tress in this photo.  There are about a dozen mostly residential towers planned for this small area, and at least five of them are proposed as 500' to 700'.
