Austin | Third + Shoal (Facebook Tower) | 389' | 29-Stories | Complete 2019

This office tower is going up on the site of the Austin Music Hall.  One of the last events at the Austin Music Hall was Obama's March SXSW keynote address.  I can't confirm if demolition has started yet, but a tower crane permit for two cranes has been filed which is good sign that this project is a go.  Here are a few renderings from the architect's website:

This photo shows the site prep for the 34-story Austin Proper Hotel & Residences taking place next to the 29-story Third + Shoal project.  The two cranes behind the Third + Shoal demo site are for the 58-story Independent Condo tower.

The site prep on the left is for this project.  The excavation on the right is for the 397' Austin Proper Hotel & Residences.  The building at top left is the still U/C 400' 500 West 2nd St office tower which will be home to Google's Austin operations.  The crane cutting across the middle of the photo is for the 690' Independent condo tower.  At upper right is the 424' Northshore apartment tower that was completed earlier this year.  On the block just visible by the FedEx truck at center-right is the site of Green Water Residential #2 which should be 400'+.

A luffing crane went up this weekend.  It's right behind the Austin Proper tower crane in this corvairkeith photo.

Here it is again as seen from across the river.  That ugly former power plant intake facility on the river with the graffiti will eventually be converted into a public space.
