Austin West Campus Projects Compilation

Recommended Posts

Here's another new West Campus apartment building that maxes out the 17/18- story height allowed by zoning.  This one is called Inspire on 22nd.  We must have close to 10 of these 17/18-story projects U/C or in the planning stages.

The rendering   came from their Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/liveatinspire/

demo permit was filed for the 11-story University Towers buildings.  Space is getting tight in the West Campus area that was zoned for ~18-story apartment towers.  Eleven-story buildings are now being torn down to make way for 17 or 18-story buildings.  The city really needs to up zone that area again.  Here's one side of the doomed building from Streetview:

But it's really three connected buildings and a parking garage across the street.  I suspect that this may be the next Austin implosion:

Here's another view of the now completed Aspen Heights West Campus (on the right).  The crane is for another apartment building called The Nine.  I don't recall how tall that one is, but it doesn't max out the 17/18-story height limit for the area.

Here are some updates on the three Marriotts being built by White Lodging in West Campus.

The dual branded 11-story AC and Autograph Collection hotels are officially U/C as columns are rising in the pit:

The Marriott Moxy hotel is 100% designed, and a September groundbreaking planned after city approvals are granted:

A rendering has surfaced for the proposed "The Standard" student apartment tower.  It's across the street from the three 11-story University Towers that are being demo'ed for something most likely taller.

Here's the Nine @ Rio mid-rise.  I literally cannot keep up with all the West Campus construction.

The city REALLY needs to up zone West Campus again.  We're running out of land and airspace for apartments.  This is a good case in point.  This historical house is being moved closer to the curb in front of the house to create a larger backyard that will accommodate a 9-story apartment building.

The backyard apartment building is apparently planned to go up too fast for proper renderings to be done.  This is the actual rendering being shown to the Austin Historic Landmark Commission.  The resident's amenities level is apparently  yellow and underground.

A developer is trying to get city approval to build an apartment tower around a historical building.  So far it's not going well.  No word on the tower's height, but here are some renderings showing how it would interact with the old house at street level.

The site plan for the residential tower in my previous post was filed today.  It'll be 19-stories and have four underground parking levels.  It's called Villas on Rio Grande.

More renderings were released for the Villas on Rio Grande yesterday.  This has to be the best looking student warehousing project ever in West Campus.

Here's some West Campus crane porn from Urbannizer at SSP.  West Campus is crazy with construction.

At this moment in time, I believe West Campus has more tower cranes than downtown proper.  That won't last long.  But right now a lot of the big downtown towers U/C have topped out, and the ones on deck won't be starting until 2019 for the most part.

Demo for this apartment block was approved.  There is no word on the project replacing this.  But since this is west Campus, it will be a bigger apartment building.  I hope it's an implosion, but the permit doesn't specify the Demo details.

This is the site of another student apartment tower.  There was a pre-development permit filed this week, and Urbannizer got a driveby of core sampling happening on the site the next day.

This hulking parking structure is set for an implosion this Sunday morning.  It will make way for another one of the many 17/18-story student apartment buildings going up in West Campus.

Right across the street from this are the 11-story University Towers which were approved for demo in November.  According to the demo site plan, this demo won't be an implosion.
