A new site plan was filed a week ago.  That means there is a good chance that there has been a significant (or not) update to the project.  I hope the sail design stays intact.

New elevations have been released.  Four feet were trimmed from the height.  But without renderings, it's difficult to tell if any significant changes were made.

The site (at lower right) is being cleared.  The city hasn't approved the excavation site plan yet, so the clearing could be related to construction on neighboring towers wrapping up.

Whoa.. I don't know what to think of this design.  It is bold.

It's a Pelli design, and slopes and angles seem to be their specialty.  This project had setback requirements on two sides due to zoning, so something like this was always the plan.

A gas line was hit during excavation this afternoon causing road closures.  Good thing it's a Sunday.  A local real estate blog is suggesting that it's Salesforce and not Google who leased this building.  An announcement should be coming soon.

Besides not being a big rectangle, the best thing about this is that Google is expanding their local workforce by up to 5,000.  But there has not been an official announcement from Google.  This will now unofficially be known as Google Tower #2.

Here's the site prep from yesterday.  They have the site leveled at this point so slurry wall construction can start.  This type of construction is done on sites with a high water table.  They will pour the cement walls for the five stories of underground parking before excavating further.  Once the walls are built excavation will resume.  That blue office tower is Google Tower #1.

This will officially be U/C as soon as cement starts being poured for the slurry walls.  Since it's already leased, marketing has stopped, and there is no rush by Trammell Crow to release any updated/higher quality renderings.  This will briefly be the fourth tallest building in Austin.   It will be 8' taller than the spire on the condo building in this rendering.  The building heights are a bit off in this rendering.

Just 'cuz we don't have new renderings, here are the other renderings blown up.

Cement is being poured for the diaphragm walls.  For this type of project it means construction has started.  There is still no word from Google about their increase in local employment numbers since leasing this project and another U/C seven-story downtown office building.  But the size of the two buildings indicate that they may be hiring as many 5,750 new workers.
