If nothing else it will bring more tax revenue in for the city if they build homes or condos there.  The city is virtually out of space to build single family type dwellings with the exception of a few small areas.

Wow.  It's been a rough go of it for golf courses lately.

Maybe the first ward commissioner will be successful convincing the city to subsidize prospective residents.

Changing demographics, aging baby boomers. Plus, if they want more young people to get into the sport, they need to update the clubhouses at a lot of the public courses. As an avid golfer, I'm appalled at how outdated/grungy/gross a lot of them are. And they smell like old people. 

On that note, it's exciting to see the work being done at Indian Trails. And the Mines just got a new clubhouse and a liquor license, a definite upgrade to a nice course.

We have had some abnormally long winters lately. I'm sure that has really hurt the golf industry in Michigan.

The City of Grand Rapids has decided that instead of selling off the property, they will double down, and improve the facilities in an effort to draw more golfers. They are adding a driving range, and adding/deleting some holes.  The course is finally making some $$$ and they would like to make more with the improvements.

Course redesign and driving range from what I've been told.

To be incorporated into Blandford and left for greenspace and educational programs.
