I thought they were ripping up some parking lot this morning, but it turns out they are salvaging some good dirt (tree permits were discussed earlier/above).   What's interesting, is the same guy that is running the track hoe, is also operating the dump truck.

I've been told this is contaminated soil removal, and that Metro used to have a big maintenance garage on this site back a few years ago.

Well, for sure those “Trolley Barns” were actually garages that were used for maintenance of the city bus fleet. Soil contamination of that area isn’t surprising. Back in those days they probably just dumped used motor oil in a pit somewhere out there.

They applied for the blasting permit for this project two days ago, so I imagine we will see some real movement here soon.

Interesting!  First of all…they make Peabody Union look massive compared to everything else…when it’s really not that tall compared to many of the nearby structures.

Like they’ve listed Tishman Speyer.  Also…what is this “Bode” next to TS?  Also…is Park Place really that short compared to Centrum?  Lastly…look at tiny City View. 

After looking at the website, if you want to live downtown, this may be one of the most perfect places to live, as far as views of DT and getting to the interstate.  Of course, you’ll have to deal with the noise from the amphitheater.
