Tonight, the Charlotte City Council approved $90M for CATS capital projects without very much discussion. The $90M will pay for $28M worth of new buses, $51M for the new CATS Operations Center on S. Tryon St and $5M to buy land for the South Corridor.

I also learned tonight that the new CATS Operations Center 3rd floor will span across the South Corridor Rail line and then "land" in a visitors parking lot on South Blvd. The visitors center will be setup for tours for mostly kids from the schools to come see the brains of CATS bus and light rail operations. Sounds pretty kewl.

CATS has submitted its Final Design Docs to the FTA for review. We will find out the FTA's decision in Jan. '04.
