This is a bit of a surprise: The Drury Plaza Hotel is actually opening as of 4 PM today. Not sure if the restaurant,, The Kitchen + Bar @ SoBro will be open as well.

Looks pretty nice inside; perhaps more so than I expected. I like it.

The entire property looks cheap and dated both inside and out. Disappointing mark on the neighborhood.

I confess ignorance as I haven't stayed at a Drury since the late 1980s.  But isn't it a budget chain? Pretty surprising that a lower price hotel chain would even build a tower in a relatively new downtown. A testament to the popularity of Nashville as a burgeoning tourist draw. Of course, 'lower' price will be relative to the other hotels downtown.

I stayed in one in Colorado Springs and it was not bad. It was about like a Hampton Inn. Hamptons have become way overpriced IMO.

I think it was a Drury I stayed at in St. Louis and it was a tad run down but that was a number of years ago.

It’s disappointing but I’ve never known anyone eager to check out the Drury Hotel, anywhere. It serves a niche.

Yeah...for a Drury, this has got to be one of the nicest ones in the U.S.

It's just a really bad design.  Very much a midwestern view of Nashville.   A swing and a miss in my IMO.

I would hope the Little Gem, but even so, I have no faith that public works will be able to maintain and prune them properly to avoid them growing laterally into the street and sidewalk.

Maybe the hotel is planning to maintain the plantings, as it IS in their best interest to keep them alive and healthy!

I’ve never seen a hotel get such rap, specifically the interior. 

The facade I get is value engineered, but will be blocked eventually, and I appreciate the height it provides in this area.

Agreed! This hotel is a vast improvement over the nearby Hyatt Place in terms of both height AND looks. It is good for the Nashville market to have a range of brands and prices available to our conventioneers and tourists alike. The Drury brand is not the best known in the business, but they appear to be a solid brand, nonetheless. I wish them much success with this new location.

They're decent street trees because they have a more vertical tendency than the traditional Magnolia, and coupled with a bit faster growth rate than the previously mentioned, they'll do just fine.

I have to go with PianoKing03 on this one.  The glass corner, fairly snazzy interior and impressive height win me over.  And  if it is "affordable" on top of that you have to give it some kudos.

Not the Four Seasons or even a JWM, but there is a place for it.  Can't please everybody.
