From the Nashville Post:

Vote slated for Fairfield Inn hotel project along West End corridor

The Metro Planning Commission is slated to vote Thursday, May 11, on a rezoning request related to a West End corridor property on which a local hotel development group is targeting a 12-story Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel.

The hotel building, to be located at 113 29th Ave. N. near Centennial Park, will offer 156 rooms. Midtown Hotel Partners LLC hopes to develop the project.

Planning Department staff is recommending a deferral of the vote until Thursday, May 25.

Led by Roshan Patel, the development entity is hoping to break ground in the second half of the year and has enlisted Nashville-based Kline Swinney Associates for architectural work.

The 0.49-acre site on which the hotel would rise is located within the 31st Avenue and Long Boulevard Urban Design Overlay District.

Midtown Hotel Partners has tapped Chattanooga-based general contractor Humphreys and Associates to handle construction management.

Here's a photo of the lot I took last week.  Looking SW from interchange of Poston Ave. and 29th Ave. North:

What is with all of the bizarre architecture for hotels in Midtown? If you count this project, the Hyatt House that's under construction, and the dual-brand SpringHill Suites/Residence Inn then there are some really garish buildings going up all around that area. That's just the ones from the top of my head too, I feel like I'm forgetting some.

The Fairfield Inn is finally going to be jump-started after stalling over the past 6 months or so.

Roshan Patel, the LLC’s spokesman, emailed the Nashville Post that a final specific plan is approved and major excavation should start within the next week or so.

This area needs more restaurants and street engagement.  It looks like the first floor could provide some of that.

Totally agree. Neighborhood's been blowing up for 10 years but for some reason restaurant/retail stays on West End.
