Its just two Council people that are making waves. Steve Glover and Decosta Hastings. Me thinks maybe there is an ulterior motive for these guys. All of the opposition to the soccer stadium is from these two.

All they want is media attention, IMHO.

Ingram drops a wack-a-mole hammer here on Glover, Hastings, and their Save the Fairgrounds cronies.    Scrapping Fairgrounds plan would cost city team.      Watching Glover and Hastings retreat should be fun.

They won't retreat. Glover does  not care about soccer. He wants the Fairgrounds to remain as is. He is even quoted in the article as he's not giving into the threat.

So I'm a bit confused... These two council members are contesting the language of a passed agreement by the city and even though the agreement has been made they can still hold up building permits and construction? Not being overly familiar with the MLS/City agreement on when the stadium is to be done. But instead of contesting the development of the fairgrounds couldnt the council members (particularly Glover) demand that other development be included to help the fairgrounds (think smaller scale Rams stadium in CA)?

Topic: MLS Stadium at Fairgrounds
Deal Structure: Metro issues bonds, ownership covers large majority of debt, unused/vacant 10 acres at Fairgrounds given to ownership group for development, including workforce housing etc. as part of community benefits agreement. All existing uses of fairgrounds to remain

Glover: doesn't want soccer at Fairgrounds
Hastings: wants soccer in his district

Maybe he didn’t know it was all or nothing for The Fairgrounds.

Either way, whether you want soccer or not, a funding deal was voted on and approved. Council members voting to change it months afterwards is a serious threat to Nashville metro’s accountability, and adds risk to all other metro funding issuances.

I ask everyone to please email the council members and make it clear that you do not support changing the funding language.

Thanks
