I guess he’s either talking about Metro Center or the PSC Metals site.

They talk about the Fairgrounds like it’s out in the suburbs. And not close to downtown.

It definitely is a risk having it at the Fairgrounds.  I agree with them that it needed to be downtown (within the loop) if possible....but I don't think Metro Center is any better than the Fairgrounds.  I just wonder if all possible sites within the loop were exhaustively pursued before Barry threw in the Fairgrounds?

Is there a particular site that CM Cooper is talking about?

Cooper’s quote doesn’t make any sense. And who says the damn flea market people most who do not live in Nashville own this land?

Metro center way worse than Fairgrounds and more difficult to access.

Yes, but it won't be in Randi's backyard so it's impossible for him to care less.

These backwards people are why Nashville will never be a top tier city.

I'm not convinced of that. It make take a little longer with obstructionists like these, but they aren't permanent.

It is truly astounding how backwards thinking some of the people in this city are... constantly holding everyone else back because they're afraid of change.

It definitely feels like the CAVE people have been emboldened ever since Mayor Barry left office and the Transit referendum failed.

If this falls through, would converting Greer Stadium be an option?  I know at one point a development was proposed there, but I thought that fell through too?  So maybe Greer is cursed as well...

Maybe give the upgraded Vanderbilt/Nashville SC stadium another go?

Probably not an option, but it would be nice to strike a deal with the Titans and fill that stadium up like ATL does their games.  Of course having a new billion dollar venue probably helps.

Just hope they have a good Plan B...:dontknow:

There is already $1million slated for the tear down of Greer. And nothing can be built on there due to archeological history that would have to be done, that there is no money for.

Vandy has said repeatedly they will not have a stadium that is not theirs and theirs alone.

Pretty sure there is no plan B... At least nothing public that I have heard or read.

I see.  Thanks, Paul.

There is this from MLS 2 Nashville:

Nashville soccer fans, if you want Major League Soccer (MLS) in Nashville you need to come to Metro Council tonight and email your Council member today. It's that simple.

Maybe this is not their job (and this direction was lost when Barry went out) but they have not done a great job to communicating to the greater community (beyond soccer fans) why this is a good thing for Nashville.  It is a good thing for Nashville but ask any casual person why and they won't have a clue. It also appears they got a bit complacent after winning the first vote (of course hindsight is 20/20).

Nothing will be built where Greer is and Greer itself shouldn’t have be built. The only thing that should go on or near that site is a museum or a memorial.

Excellent point. Most people, if they know about it at all, consider the MLS to be a middling league that’s not even in the same ballpark as the other established professional sports. There needs to be more PR convincing people why they should care.

From the Tennessean, a technicality could derail this from Cooper.

What is his  deal/goal with this referendum? I just don't get it.
