I don’t have Twitter up currently. They were talking about how the affordable housing would be expensive still because it’s based on the neighborhood. I just corrected them on how affordable housing works.

Housing affordability is almost always calculated based on the regional median income.

With the street grid improvements that are the first stage of this project, any chance they'll make the initial moves to align Wedgwood with Fesslers? Hopefully they think long term for this area.

There’s two options. It was somewhere in the Plan for Nashville or some similar sounding document that someone posted on here a year or so ago. I forget exactly how the planners laid out the two options.

IIIRC, Nashville Next recommended to straighten Wedgewood to connect with Polk.  Polk does meet Fesslers.

To help with the parking and traffic situation, how about running shuttles between Nissan Stadium and the Fairgrounds. That certainly would take a lot of the pressure off of the traffic when there is a game.

They discussed the team having shuttles.

I reached out to Colby Sledge and asked if Greer Stadium parking (and existing stadium location) that will be converted into a park to be a park that can also accommodate parking (like fair park). That would create a few thousands parking spots too. 

Personally, I plan to take uber/lyft.

Has anyone seen the advertising for the fair around the grounds. It’s 11”x17” posters attached to the fence that’s around the Fairgrounds. It’s laughable, makes me think even more they aren’t going to renew their contract. 

Shuttles woikd defintely make sense and eliminate a lot of cars. Just have a shuttle line for people to stand in. This line goes to Stadium lot A. This one to Broadway, etc. 

The team/city/CSX would really have  work together to make sure that no trains block 4th Ave or else there would be shuttles full of furious people, or at worst a train stops, blocks the road and people are climbing over it to get to the game.

They honestly need to include a bridge of some sort at 4th, and straightening of 2nd in the infrastructure improvements for the stadium. I know that would be cost prohibitive, but a major benefit to the traffic flow in the area.

if a train is coming, on average how long does it take to cross?

Anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour plus. I waited once as the train sat on the tracks for an hour and 15 minutes and it didn’t move. 

I’ve seen ambulances come down 4th and have to turn off their sirens because they were stuck.

It’s really quite ridiculous.

What time of day was that? 

Most MLS games are on a Saturday. Does CSX have a schedule or is it unpredictable

They should do a sampling of Davidson County residents and ask them:

1. Are you going to the 2018 TN State Fair?

2. When is the last time you visited the TN State Fair?

3. Do you know where the TN State Fair is located?

4. Have you ever heard of the TN State Fair?

I bet they'd get some very interesting (and telling) responses.

I actually think CSX should have to pay for improvements. You have to get a court order before you can put a potted plant on RR property. The RR's have way too much power dating back tot he 1800's and they make plenty of money but hate to see a penny leave their clutches.

I should have given my report on this last night, but it slipped my mind. I was at the council meeting on Tuesday night, and there was definitely tension in the gallery. I spoke to Fabian Bedne both prior to the meeting, as well as after the last stadium related vote, and his confidence never wavered through it all. I was on the front row of the gallery, and apparently I got plenty of screen time during the live stream. The mood of the members was pretty relaxed for what they were about to undertake. I won't lie, I had knots in my stomach over this, having NO idea how the vote would turn out, as support dropped a bit between the first and second readings. I along with the friends I was sitting with were all nervous as hell, but I feel that cautiously optimistic would be the right way to describe it.

All of the other votes and everything took place, and finally it was time for the 4 bills pertaining to the stadium to come up. John Cooper had proposed an amendment to the $50 million in public funds that it be the voters decision to approve that or not. The problem is, that money is directly tied into the improvements at the fairgrounds site, thus the phrase "cutting off your nose to spite your face" could be used here had it gone to a public referendum. After much debate on that, it ultimately failed, and by a large margin, and it was at that time that the cautiously optimistic turned into optimism. I don't have to tell you what happened voting-wise, but to say that when the first bill passed overwhelmingly, the "redshirts" as we called them, stormed out, with a couple voicing their opposition to the vote.

There was a hiccup in the process as Councilwoman Henderson wanted to defer the $50 million vote until the 18th, because in her view, they apparently had to know exactly what the money would be spent on before they knew what was going to happen at the site. It was during this portion that I leaned back to Ian Ayre, the CEO of Nashville SC and asked if he wanted to go back to England, to which is reply made my chuckle (as could be seen in the video) that he still hasn't unpacked yet. Eventually the money was approved, which meant it was all a go. Obviously the old exhibit buildings cannot be destroyed until the new buildings have been constructed, a completely understandable request.

Afterward, some of us gathered out on the steps of the courthouse, and John Ingram came out to speak to the crowd, and praised the efforts of those that had called, emailed, or otherwise contacted the council members, as several made mention of the fact that they had numerous people contact them in favor of the stadium, and that it swayed them to vote for the project.

If I could, to end this, make a request of those that were in support of the project, and send an email to Mike Freeman of the 16th District, and thank him for voting yes. He posted a lengthy explanation on Facebook as to why, despite knowing what it could cost him, he voted yes. I think it would be wonderful if we, particularly those that live within Davidson County, and perhaps even those that live outside, send him a note thanking him, and helping him realize that he did the right thing, and to let him, as well as the rest of the council members know that this isn't just going to be Nashville's team, but that it will be a team for all of Middle Tennessee. For now, the 16th is my district and I stayed in his inbox for the past couple weeks. I wanted to lay into him for voting no on the first two readings, but I knew it wouldn't get me anywhere. He's mentioned he hangs out at Flatrock Coffee on the first Saturday of the month. I'm definitely going to stop by in October to thank him personally for listening to his constituency and buy him a cappuccino.
