Watching the stadium funding presentation live feed and John Ingram is calling the ESPN tweet fake news.    Says MLS expansion process is ongoing and announcement is to be made in December.

Several sources are reporting the latest proposal to include 27,500 seats, which is significantly larger than most of the other city's proposals. I suppose it fits an outdoor concert market niche at that size. The owners will no doubt be looking at various revenue streams to pay off the stadium.

If everything goes according to plan, a soccer stadium won't be the only addition to The Fairgrounds Nashville in the years to come.

As part of a financing plan unveiled Monday, Metro Nashville plans to lease "10 acres of underutilized land at the fairgrounds" to the owners of Nashville's potential Major League Soccer team. The land would be used for a mixed-use development expected to "include affordable and workforce housing," according to a news release.

As Metro Council readies for a stadium financing vote that could seal or sink Nashville's hopes of landing a Major League Soccer team, Mayor Megan Barry's office and the ML2SNashville committee are touting the results of a University of Tennessee study on the economic impact of the proposed stadium.

Here are the headline numbers from the study:

• Construction of the stadium will generate $139.2 million in income for Tennessee workers and business owners and create 3,572 full-time jobs.
• State and local tax revenue generated will equal $18.3 million during construction.
• Once the stadium opens in 2021, 1,886 jobs will be created and $77.1 million in annual income will be generated.
• State and local tax revenue generated will equal $15.1 million annually once the stadium opens.
• The operational results are based on average attendance of 27,000 a game, with tickets costing $30 each.

IDK the plan wrt the State Fairgrounds, but it's not necessarily the case that it would have to go. Texas' sf has been held for 80+ years around the Cotton Bowl Stadium.

No doubt some intentional leakage going on to spur others into stepping up. I would guess it's down to Sacramento in the west and Nashville/Detroit in the East.
