The FOP is part the anti crowd now too.

First, the 10 acres isn’t being given away. Second, the whole development would bring in tax revenue that goes into the general fund.

Ingram and company have some terrible PR people. yeesh

It's not so much on Ingram PR, it's the fact that SOF deliberately does not listen and says what they want despite the facts.

True, but still, most of the battle, it seems to me, is simply about getting your message out, and it's stunning to me that someone with pockets as deep as Ingram's is seemingly content to just sit back and watch all of this happen without funding some sort of counter-PR campaign of some sort.  The fact that a group who's most effective weapon is to print BS onto a poorly designed handout and stick them in people's mailboxes is able to be this much of a threat to such a major project is astounding.  It simply shouldn't happen.

Guys...this is just like any other political race out there (and I'm talking about either side...left or right).  Once a certain side figures out what kind of "news" will move people to vote in their favor...they start hammering people with it...even if there's only a shred of truth to what they're promoting.  They know they can get people riled up by saying "your tax dollars are being misused"...or the city is "giving taxpayer land away for free to a billionaire"...and once they smell blood in the water, they hammer it even harder.  Then...you start seeing a snowball effect.  Like right now...I'm starting to see tons of my friends on Facebook (some on the left, some on the right) all sharing misinformation on how the citizens are about to be on the hook for hundreds of millions of dollars for a billionaire's soccer team.

It's a shame...but it may be too late to rectify the misinformation and its effect.  The only hope we have is that the council members don't buy into the rhetoric.

The first response is great. Like the city can't multi-task and do more than one thing. The shortfalls in other areas aren't do to this deal, like it would have actually helped those areas with more money.

There's no nuance in political discourse anymore. Whoever is the dumbest and loudest wins.

Also understanding the financing of big projects is tough for many. Many on this board(which has active, engaged citizens), struggle with understanding municipal finance, and the difference between city, state, and federal level finance.

You can convey the nuance at a local meeting, but it is impossible over a medium like facebook or twitter where many participants are simply trolling.

This is all true of course, but listen to some of the public in-person comments by the opposition and you'll swear they are trolling too.

I'm not sure any amount of nuance would help some people's understanding with comments like this...

"Criminal activity already surrounds this soccer hotel condo restaurants. Instead of tichland country. Meet in the cement art with Megan and Forrest. Good place to hide. Is Megan father involved in this scam"

I mean WHAT???

Per fox, a community benefits agreement has been reached.

Boom. This is what had to happen. Now, Stand Up Nashville folks need to sing their praises and getting the world on board.

With the first MAJOR CBA agreement EVER. It is insanity not to support this.
