During the slightly warmer months, I run down that side of Demonbreun from 12th Ave to 4th Ave about three times a week.  There are always people walking on the sidewalk, especially on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.  Will they re-open the sidewalk after putting some covering over it?

The development company behind a two-hotel project in SoBro seemingly is about to break ground — almost one year to the week it last ostensibly was prepped to move dirt.

Atlanta-based Five Star Realty Partners will have the towers for the two Hilton hotels — an Embassy Suites and a Curio — constructed on a 1.3-acre site located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Demonbreun Street and Eighth Avenue South.

On Monday, the secured site (fenced since late-January 2018) was altered to have barriers provide a walking path. The path is needed as the sidewalk on the north side of Demonbreun was blocked on Martin Luther King Day.

Officials with the project could not be reached for comment.

White/Peterman Properties Inc. of Merrillville, Indiana, is no longer involved in the project, according to sources. That entity originally was reported to have been prepping for the project as long ago as mid-2016.

Wichita, Kansas-based LK Architects is handling design for the project, with the towers to rise 30 (Embassy Suites at Seventh and Demonbreun) and 18 floors (Curio at Eighth and Demonbreun), respectively. The collective guestroom count, the website notes, is 721.

On an adjacent site sits the 19-story building home to a Cambria hotel. Catty-corner from the site is the 33-story JW Marriott Nashville hotel.

The two Hilton hotel towers will rise from a pedestal building of sorts. The Embassy Suites tower will include a first-floor restaurant (open to the public) and a fourth-floor kitchen, bar and dining area for guests. In addition, that building will include a rooftop swimming pool, a bar, a deck and a fitness center.

The Curio tower will feature a first-floor restaurant and bar for both guests and the public, a fitness center, meeting spaces on the fourth floor and a rooftop with a bar and an event deck.

Who owns the NE corner of that block? Thought the Embassy Suites was going to wrap behind the Cambria. 

Also, trying to get a feel for the market segment (lux, mid, econ) hat Curio is going for; anyone here ever stayed at one? 

First Baptist still owns the NE corner of that block. I think that is where the construction trailers are going for this project though. I think the Baptist got like 22 million for this  parcel where the two hotels are going. The Curio will sit on the NW corner and the Embassy will be on the SE corner. At least that is my understanding. Someone correct if I am mistaken.

I have never stayed in a Curio.

Curio is a Luxury upscale brand of Hilton. The do boutique style hotels.

 

Curio Collection by Hilton is an upscale hotel brand within Hilton's portfolio. CurioCollection is a soft brand, meaning its hotels are supported by Hilton, but retain their own individual branding. Hilton selects independent hotels and resorts to be part ofCurio Collection.
