Holland's version of the Grandville Castle, but more intimate and classy.  Via does nice work.

Completely agree. The surrounding area could use more affordable options like the article states but if you have that Prince money, in Holland you can get anything done.

A good rundown of some projects coming to downtown Muskegon:

and someone from Mlive made an interesting drive through video of downtown. I set up a google map of the route as a walking route. UP meetup there next Summer? Speaking of walking I'm not sure why that guy is walking right down the middle of the street at the end. :P 

That doesn't include their new convention center that will start soon, connected to LC Walker Arena:

HOLLAND — In just a few weeks, a new development on West Eighth Street will take its first upright steps toward public integration.

For the past two years, GDK Construction has worked to completely transform Eighth Street between River Avenue and Pine Avenue in downtown Holland.

The series of projects began with the renovation of The Sentinel building, which paved the way for the addition and opening of Seventy-Six.

Next, a 45,000-square-foot building east of The Sentinel was completed. It holds Canterbury Cottage Interiors, Tulip Time, 16 apartments and five condominium units — which are occupied.

News from Manistee:

Was just up there over memorial day weekend and noticed a couple exciting projects. 

The Music Vault, a new "listening room" style venue is opening soon. 

A new amphitheater is being proposed for the 1st street beach, hoping to attract some concerts throughout the summer. 

Kind of interesting as both of those ideas have been floating around GR. I'm hoping Studio Park still includes plans for a listening room.

Studio Park just launched a website and social media platform separately for The Listening Room GR, so I would say they still have it in their plans.

We checked out the whole development with the theater last week. It is amazing. I feel like they got it 100% right. Great addition to Holland. We were there in the afternoon and the theater employees showed us all around since it was pretty quiet.

I heard the same thing.  A friend of mine who runs a construction company was heading up there to bid on it I believe.  I’ll have to see if I can get details.  Would be very cool for Manistee!

I also heard the new owners of the massive 1907 Iron Works building downtown on the river want to turn it into a grow facility.  Would have been cool if the tribe renovated that into a mixed use development.

The director of Little River Holdings told me they would be interested in the Iron Works building if they could get it for a decent price. But they have the next 3+ years of work budgeted out, would be awhile, if ever,  before they would consider taking on that project (I was pushing for it, because I want to see it turned into something awesome).

 

He also said the timeline for the River Street redevelopment will be pretty quick due to them getting tax credits.
