Boxcar Bar & Arcade to open next month in downtown Greensboro

Recommended Posts

Boxcar Barcade is open and that place is packed. Boxcar is the combination of an arcade and a bar which is very common to see in the downtowns in northeastern cities. With over 10,000 square feet, its larger than the Raleigh location, almost twice the size and is the largest barcade in the state. Initially they were going to open a Charlotte location after Raleigh but developer Andy Zimmerman talked them in to opening one in Greensboro first because the site suited them so well. It is located in the Old Greensborough warehouse district of downtown on Lewis Street across from Greensboro Distilling, Gibbs Hundred Brewery, a live music venue and HQ Greensboro. You'll find everything from classic arcade games, new arcade games, air hockey, bubble hockey, foosball, skee ball, pinball not to mention craft beer and mixed drinks. Totally new concept for downtown and certainly a great addition to the downtown nightlife.

Looking forward to checking it out soon. I might give it a couple weeks to let the crowd die down some. But I'm guessing this will be quite a popular place.

Great addition to downtown! This will tie in well to that area.  It will be an interesting area when kotis/Zimmerman continue development. If I recall, aren't they going to connect this area under Eugene street?
