If you ever tire of all the complaints of Florida being plastic and manufactured, here's a way to remember the state we natives love. "Backroads of Paradise:A Journey To Rediscover Old Florida" by Cathy Salustri. Here's a review in the NY Times: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/12/travel/cathy-salustri-florida-backroads-history.html?mabReward=A1&recp=1&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&region=CColumn&module=Recommendation&src=rechp&WT.nav=RecEngine

It made me proud to be a Floridian all over again.

If you like that kind of thing, there are a couple of good Florida travel type shows on our local PBS stations, in which they explore the back roads, quirky curiosities and various hidden treasures around our state.

Great ideas for day trips

Maybe you're already familiar with them.

If not, there's one called Florida Crossroads and another called Florida Roadtrip

Both are pretty interesting and entertaining.
