Does anyone have, or can anyone find, the original renderings of Adelphia Coliseum? I read that the stadium was "value engineered" to what it is today, but just trying to see what was originally planned.

I found this funding request in the 2021 capital improvement budget. Does anyone know or can find out what specifically the $50MM of improvements would improve? A lot could be done with that $.

Keep in mind, it states "if available".

Hopefully part of it will go towards new LED lights like the these

 These have been a growing trend at major sports stadiums. I know Petco Park in San Diego and Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa have similar LED lighting systems as the ones above. I would also assume the new stadiums coming on line in LA, Vegas, and Arlington, Texas have LED lights as well.

 

With that being said, I'm not sure how likely it is that Metro will have $50,000,000 in this economy next year. Especially if the stadium hasn't hosted fans in over a year by then.

With the pandemic and the likelihood of sports returning without fans, I think it's safe to say we won't be seeing a new/renovated stadium for the Titans anytime soon.

In recent years the team has made a lot of changes – swapping out all the seats, adding mammoth video boards, new ribbon boards, upgraded WiFi, a new sound system, new elevators to the upper deck, a new paint job. But more dramatic changes are coming in the future. I can't say exactly when, but I can tell you it's in the discussion phase. Amy Adams Strunk said previously she likes the look of Hard Rock Stadium, so keep that in mind as it relates to a potentially new-and-improved Nissan Stadium. And after visiting Hard Rock Stadium several times, including last year's Super Bowl, I can tell you it's, as the cool kids say, lit.

Wonder if Amy would like to keep the silly 'village' facades at the end zones. 

Was Nissan Stadium the last one built that had closed concourses?  Lots of newer ones have (mostly) open pedestrian areas behind the various seating levels. Noticed the last time I was there how claustrophobic it felt.

@henburg thank you for sharing. If Nissan Stadium can become Hard Rock, with an activated East Bank (especially along the pedestrian bridge), I'd be so grateful.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The top women’s indoor volleyball players in the U.S. will be calling Nashville home for their new professional league. 

Athletes Unlimited, in partnership with USA Volleyball, had been looking for a city where the new league can play. 

Co-founder and CEO Jon Patricof told The Associated Press that the league evaluated several cities around the country. 

The league will play games at Municipal Auditorium from Feb. 26 to April 4. Alliance Volleyball Club in nearby Franklin will be the league’s training partner

I do not expect Cooper to say he would open up the wallet for the stadium, but I also doubt he is going to give much. Unfortunate, as there is a place for public/private investment. 

Cooper did say that there can't be "big" financial incentives. He did not say "no" incentives.

Seeing that mural reminds me that I would love to see us change our name from Tennessee Titans to Nashville Titans.  I don't recall if a franchise has ever done this but why not be the first.

The Phoenix Coyotes became the Arizona Coyotes in a reverse sort of move. The Saints also considered changing to Louisiana Saints after Hurricane Katrina but eventually shelved that idea.

I've wondered the same myself for the Titans, but you gotta admit that Tennessee Titans has a good alliteration to it and helps incorporate other markets like Memphis and Knoxville at least on a superficial level.

It is a requirement to use the name Tennessee since state funds were used to help pay for the stadium.

At the time the stadium was being planned and funded, the State of Tennessee added funding with the insistence it be the TENNESSEE whatevers. The team was not named the Titans at the stage of development.

The Boston Patriots did the same thing when they moved to Foxboro in 1970 and changed theirs to New England Patriots.

The California Angels became the Anaheim Angels in 1997 and then the Los Angeles Angels in 2016.
