CHKD In-Patient Tower (Completed)

It looks like the first piece of steel has been erected for the CHKD tower.  If the frame of this tower is going to be all steel it should rise quickly.

Looks about 30ft tall, which is the height of the first floor. Now everything  is starting to make sense! The foundation of this building looked different than what I was used to seeing. This will probably catch up to, and surpass, River Tower in height for a brief period.

It is NOT going to take until 2022 to build this building. Holy crap, I wasn’t expecting this to go vertical for another month.

I don't mean to be to picky, but just to keep the terminology straight, the vertical members are columns.  Girders are the horizontal members that go between the columns, and then beams frame between the girders.  The columns are probably two stories tall.

Floors 1 and 2 are complete, now working on floors 3 and 4. It's interesting to see something built in 2 floor increments. Don't think i've ever seen that done before.

They are probably trying to put it up as quick as possible.

Some of that work going on between floors can be confusing, but I think they're just completing the fourth floor.

Video of tower crane erection. Crane is 318 ft tall and took 2 days to complete (taller than I expected because I thought all cranes above 260 ft had to be braced against the building ).

Working on the 7th floor now. Nearly halfway up. This is gonna have a great presence.

Already the height of the building next door. Will be more than twice as tall when finished.

Yes, it needs to be zoomed out.  I wish there was a construction cam for River Tower.

13th actual floor completed. 14th and roof to go. This will certainly clear 250 ft. It has a massive presence.

This is a great looking and a substantial addition to the Fort Norfolk area. This area is quickly gaining mass and becoming it’s own.
