The office tower is close to topping out. I guess that will happen once the roof goes on the 20th level now underway and they get the mechanical structures in place up there.

Yeah, it's embarrassing looking from the interstate.  I'd rather the carnival signage of Nashville Yards than that unfinished look that will never be hidden.

Gulch Union office tower has landed its first tenant: Dixon Hughes Goodman accounting will relocate 50 existing employees in the fourth quarter of this year from their Brentwood location.  They will take 8,500 sq. ft. on one of the mid-level floors of the 20 story tower.

That's a pretty nice snag to get a suburban operation to move downtown.

Companies really like these towers on the back 40 stretch; due to the proximity to the interstate. Leaders hear the horror stories of traffic for the downtown buildings, so they are wanting space next to the interstate to "have your cake and eat it too" by snagging both downtown and suburban talent

This is one reason living in The Gulch is so good: proximity to downtown and easy access to the interstate.

Gulch Union is looking up, in more ways than one.  They got a tenant (whew!) and the office tower has topped out structurally with only a mechanical screen left to install.  And the dreaded parking garage screens that seem to be such a struggle for the A-B Tower are going up on the west side of Gulch Union and don't look bad at all.

 

 

The tower itself is handsome from Demonbreun Street at the interstate.

 

 

And, yes, the parking pedestals on the Capstar Building and 1212 are unsightly from the interstate.

They placed glass over the garage section facing Demonbreun.  I wish they would have done the same on the interstate side, instead of the mesh screen.  But...at least they didn't leave it open.
