Preliminary work underway.  Core drilling, etc.

Signs going up around the large site.  Much of this had been free parking for 3rd & Lindsley Nightclub.  No more.    Looking north from Ash St., 1/2 block west of 2nd Ave. South:

Work has begun on the first two 7 story apartment buildings.  As mentioned previously, the 10 story building will come later). No renderings for these first two yet. A 2020 completion date is scheduled for these first two structures.

The 723 Second Ave. South building will have 105 units, cover 128,800 sq. ft. and have 66 parking spaces. It will sit at the NW corner of the T-intersection of Second and Ash Street.

The 700 Third Ave South building will feature 161 units, 242,600 square feet, 129 parking spaces, and a first floor of retail/office space siting on the NE corner of 3rd Ave. South and Ash Streets .

Civil Site Design Group to handle land-planning efforts. LC will serve as the general contractor.

The Metro documents list the two seven-story buildings as “BLDG C” and “BLDG D,” suggesting the land on the west side of Third could offer two structures (i.e., “BLDG A” and “BLDG B”).

So the first two 7 story apartment buildings total 266 units. Does that mean the 10 story one will be 334 units to get to the 600+ total units that is in the thread title?

Since there apparently is going to be a building A and B, along with these two (C and D), that 334 will most likely be divided in two somehow.

I'm kind of fascinated by that parking ratio. 195 parking spaces for 266 apartments, right? That's awesome. Did this become common when I wasn't paying attention? Seems like every single development used to include at least 1-2 spots per residence, even when it wasn't required (in the downtown code area).

Chad Thompson of LifeStyle Communities says that "a couple hundred" apartment homes would be built during the first phase of construction, in a building that will include a pool, on-site restaurant and a fitness facility.

It was the same way with their Germantown project as well.  We had no idea what it was gonna look like until weeks (months?) after construction actually began.
