Sixth South Apts., 11 & 12 stories , 299 units, 5,700 sq. ft. of retail, internal garage

After about a year's worth of delays, it now appears that this development is finally moving forward with a year-end groundbreaking according to Ned Miller, the development manager for Beach Company.  They have enlisted Thomas & Hutton for engineering and land planning efforts.

It's a  strange looking building from that angle, very reminiscent of an Escher drawing, but I think I have it figured out.

1. Western wing has 3 levels ('podium') of what may be amenities. The pool appears to be on the rooftop of the third floor.

2. Looks like 3 levels of parking at the large (eastern) portion of this complex. Consistent with the western wing, the pool level is above the top level of parking.

3. If you count up from the pool level, there are 11 floors on the west side and 12 floors on the main eastern portion.

So if NP is reporting 10 floors, then this must be an old rendering.

Over half of the storage facility is knocked down now.

There are multiple "For Sale" signs up on the construction fence around the parcel. I noticed two of them last night. Are these old or maybe for a different portion of the land??

It is just for the corner portion that is the staging area Turner is using. This was the old parking area for DanDgures and it is still for sale as the owner made a mistake when he did not sell to the Beach company to start with. I will bet they say Robin Realty on the sign.

Turner is just waiting on permits to start, and as usual Metro is slow about such things.

Is there a small crane on site today?  From the angle of the Adventure Center (Channel 2) webcam it's very hard to tell if it's there or somewhere else.  See above the green Interstate sign in blowup below.

This one will really make a huge impact on that western end of SoBro. Regarding that lot at the corner of 6th & Lea seems like a good location for a Walgreens. But I suppose Dandguire's wouldn't sell to them either.

Makes you wonder if there's maybe a touch of regret for not selling to these developers. No doubt, that lot will fetch a pretty penny regardless. But now the buyer will need to be from a much smaller pool of developers. Hence, my Walgreens comment.
