Why Bandwidth decided to expand so much in Raleigh with close to 1200 new jobs?  From the CEO

https://www.wraltechwire.com/2020/04/08/bandwidths-morken-why-he-chose-raleigh-for-new-hq-other-expansion-plans/

I love reading local success stories like this. Let's hope they continue to follow in the footsteps of other mega successful startups in this area like SAS, Red Hat, ShareFile, Pendo, and many others.

from the Triangle Biz Journal today

""A global pharmaceutical company with an upcoming expansion in Durham paid $36 million for land in Research Triangle Park.  Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY) bought 110 acres as the company plots its entrance into the region. The property is situated near the intersection of Ellis Road and SoHi Drive at the north end of RTP and near the on-ramp to Hwy. 147.   The seller is Los Angeles-based Karlin Real Estate, owner of Parmer RTP, a 500-acre research and development campus featuring 20 buildings and tenants such as LabCorp, Credit Suisse and others.""

as pharma manufacturing comes back to the USA from Asia you will see NC benefit greatly and the area around the Raleigh Durham area will get a good share as well as eastern NC and Sanford area.  Just watch.   This was announced about Eli before all this but more is to come.

300 more jobs in the biopharma industry coming to Clayton with Grifols in a $356 M expansion.

https://www.wraltechwire.com/2020/06/09/grifols-to-invest-356m-for-new-facility-in-clayton-adding-hundreds-of-jobs/

This is an industry I think is going to boom in the Triangle region and points east and south in the next few years.

another job announcement today in RTP with the Belgian based crop biosciences firm to establish their HQ in the RTP.  No word on jobs yet.

https://www.wraltechwire.com/2020/06/09/european-crop-protection-firm-picks-rtp-for-us-headquarters/

RTP is attracted quite a few announcements here of late with Eli Lilly, GRAIL and now this company.

The science-based economy in the Triangle is really amazing.   I never knew how substantial it is until I moved here from Charlotte.  The Triangle is the Cambridge of the South.
