Bandwidth company culture steers towards open spaces, mental well being, large scale company activities including exercise and proximity to incredible outdoor spaces like Umstead, Schenck Forest, and NCMA. Not every firm values being stuffed in a highirise where their employees can belly up at a bar every afternoon. This is great news and Raleigh benefits from all types of large scale economic development.

Agreed. I'm just grateful to have them expanding in Raleigh and not elsewhere.

Quietly Durham has become the HQ of a Fortune 1000 company from Silicon Valley     Avaya.

https://www.wraltechwire.com/2020/10/27/durham-is-new-home-for-collaboration-solutions-provider-avayas-corporate-hq/

their own website says it too

https://www.avaya.com/en/contacts/

There's something about Durham that's quite alluring.  Perhaps because I had no expectations of it being anything that great , I was pleasantly surprised by it when we first moved to the Triangle.  But beyond that, it keeps growing on me.  It has some nice, old buildings, and with Hines' new project next to the ATC, it will get even nicer.

Man, I actually work for BioAgilytix - it's pretty cool to see us on the front page of TBJ, WRAL, etc AND mentioned on one of my favorite urban forums in the economic growth thread! I'm one proud employee now! And super excited to see how we expand this shrinking facility...

I am happy your company decided to create these jobs here in NC!   Yes guess insider question for you do you have room to expand where you are at or build a new building or do you think you will move to new space?

Don't quote me on this at all, pure speculation - but I imagine we'll expand where we're at. We've already done so a few times.

One more story about this big BioAgilytix expansion is what the CEO said about Massachusetts and what their people said there:

""Ultimately, Datin said what sealed the deal was that BioAgilytix thinks recruiting in the Triangle is a better investment.  "It was pretty funny, I was talking to one of the state officials in Massachusetts and he said, 'Hey, I know our weather sucks, I know traffic is bad, I know the cost of living is terrible here, but," Datin said, laughing. "I thought those are three great reasons that we love North Carolina." Datin also said he believes the Triangle is poised to become a primary hub for life sciences in the country, matching the other top regions.""

this is great news no matter where you are in NC

NC is tied with Georgia in the #1 SPOT for best business climate in the nation with the industry leading publication Site Selection for 2020.

https://edpnc.com/site-selection-ranks-north-carolina-as-top-state-business-climate-for-2020/

first time tie for the states

https://siteselection.com/issues/2020/nov/2020-business-climate-rankings-cover.cfm#gsc.tab=0

and if NC had a bigger port we would #1 for a long time.  Savannah is just an economic powerhouse.

Here is another story about the 1 million sq ft plant mentioned above.  Yet another great win for the Triangle.

https://www.wraltechwire.com/2020/11/19/795-million-gigafactory-campus-for-vaccine-production-to-be-built-in-rtp/

The good news just keeps on coming. I'm not tired of all of this winning yet...

I predicted at the beginning of this pandemic that pharma and related industries would boom in NC especially in the Triangle and I do believe more is coming.  I heard of Indian pharam companies circling NC for plant locations.  NC is the low cost production site compared to a Massachusetts or California or New Jersey where most of the industry is based.  And the average salaries are much higher than the state average thus raising the tide for all.   Plus the homegrown pharma companies are growing in size too.  NC is already the leader in CROs contract research organizations for pharma testing.   PPD based in Wilmington for example did the testing for Modera's Covid 19 vaccine.

I'm currently working for Merck in Durham, and we are in the process of HUGE expansions of facilities dedicated to vaccines production, in Durham and other Merck sites. The company is pouring billions into these capital projects and is creating many new, long term jobs.

^^^ great and Merck has another plant in Wilson.  I think NC is the best positioned state in the union for US made pharmaceuticals and will continue to grow.

Here is the press release from Apiject.  Does anyone know if this plant is inside the RTP or in Durham county somewhere?
