OMG, the guy that plays Denny Crane from Boston Legal was in Star Trek?  jk

You did a good thing.  I did not know there was a Director's Cut of ST TMP.  Now I have to get it! I love this movie!

ST:TMP was a little too in awe of its unlimited SFX budget for my taste (ST:TWOK which emphasized the story I found preferable). Nevertheless, I saw it on the night it opened at the old Seminole Cinema in Casselberry along with several hundred NTC recruits and it was quite an experience.

I must also confess Stephen Collins was one of my big crushes at the time (followed shortly thereafter by Anthony Andrews in Brideshead Revisited) Ahhhh, to be young again...

Collins was a  looker- Tales of the Gold Monkey...

You are correct about ST TMP- every shot of the Enterprise was like a Glamour shot, right down to the scene where Kirk Unit first enter the refitted Enterprise and nearly spunks himself after Scotty's complimentary tour of it's exterior.  Priceless.  You can almost "feel" what he's thinking...

Of course ST TWOK was a better story; ST TMP was kind of like a weird semi- psychedelic experiment...  I'm not sure they even knew what they were going after with the movie plot based on the era...

Our island-hopping lad is back with a tan (if your skin hue does that sort of thing). Welcome back - it’s been quiet this week!

Carnival Conquest. It was a nice trip, but after about 5 days I was ready to get off the ride. Had a good time and only gained 5 lbs. LOL. I don't know how I pulled that off. My wallet, on the other hand, lost quite a bit of heft!

Time to hit the Batcycle and head out the WOT to Rock Springs - you’ll be back in fighting trim in no time!

I like that video where the guy walks into the porta-potty and they move the executive board meeting in front of it, so that when he walks out he interrupts them.

Then the internet pessimist inside me says he was in on the joke the whole time.

I do enjoy that this is taking off and we're seeing solid action.  I'm still waiting on tall buildings, but I'll take 13 floors over 4-6 any day.

I know this isn’t the right thread (but it’s adjacent!), but the Travel Lodge has closed. Signage down, notices on the lobby door. Next step - demo? If so, quite the transformation for this corner of downtown.

I want Sleepy Bear!

I wanted to post a thread on this to see if anyone else was interested, curious, or knowledgeable about prefab homes.  My girlfriend and I are considering either a major addition to our home or demoing the structure and building a custom home.  I understood prefab to be better built due to the ability to build in a controlled environment, but also cheaper due to the economies of scale achieved by building similar homes in one location.  This would be especially true for the modular homes.  However, I am finding many of the prefab homes are priced in the $350-$500/sqft. range, excluding land costs!  One company (Turkel Design) gave me a quote for $143 for site work costs, which would include running the plumbing, electrical, installing the cabinetry, etc.   The materials (drywall, cabinets, counters, appliances, etc.) come as part of another $150,000 line item for the budget.  The big issue I am having is comparing apples-to-apples.  How do I confirm what a comparable house would cost to build on site?
Does anyone have an personal experience with these types of homes or projects?

The old Ramada Inn turned failed Duke Condo project turned failed boutique hotel by Graduate Hotels, is in the process of being demolished.  It appears everyone has given up at this point on trying to save the bones of this building and it's going to be razed for a 342 unit apartment complex and parking deck.  The design is being handled by CLINE Design on behalf of Alliance Residential out of Charlotte.

General site plan which definitely maximizes every inch of their site as opposed to the giant sprawling parking lot currently there:

New apartment complex coming to a six-acre plot of land. Rent will range from about $600-1,000, and eventually single-family homes will be built nearby.

I'm guessing this is right off the Campostella Bridge, across from the Hardee's. There used to be a Farm Fresh there overlooking the water.

      Hey All,
I'm moving from Boston to Tallahassee for a job that may be as short as 1 month or as long as 10 months. I think an extended stay hotel in Tallahassee could be a good option for me. The Value Place chain has two locations in the city, which is about $800 or so a month. Does anyone else have a recommendation for other extended stay hotels between $700-$900 in the area?
