Political Digression Thread -- Save UP! Move the politically focused stuff here

Perhaps we hava had worse Presidents (watching Vietnam series confirms how bad LBJ was and Bush got us in Iraq among other things).  That said, Trump is just a horrendously bad individual.  He's incurious, unintelligent, insecure, mean-spirited, vulgar, impulsive, self centered (I could go on all day).  He may do less damage to the economy and may kill fewer humans unnecessarily than predecessors but the divide he is creating in America is unprecedented.  Awful man in every way.

The dotard is a gift to anyone seeking to slow, stop, or reverse the rightward drift of American politics.  If a reflexive regurgitation by the fickle electorate can swing back the pendulum by the 2020 Census and resulting reapportionment, then the diverse, more metropolitan America can be more permanently resurgent for majority control.

President Trump is the best thing that has happened to the U.S. since Truman. Many hate him as he is secure, speaks his mind, supports the military, protects our borders, reaches out to the other party, spends unmatchable time working to strengthen the economy and provide jobs,  enforces immigration laws, supports the police (visa versa),  is sober, doesn't bow to leaders of the Axis of Evil and belittle his own country, gets off his ass and joins Americans in suffering after disasters, supports all Americans and doesn't focus on his own race and defy others  like Obama, and  gives us real Americans a feeling of security and pride. He has bringing us back to a place in the world where we should be. He is not moved by the crying and ridiculousness of the "despicable" left despite their endless effort to destroy him. They are looking more foolish day by day.  Yet, silly nilly leftists are more concerned about the shoes that his wife wears and any other pathetic flaw they can find which has proven impossible.  He has done more in less than a year than other presidents do in a whole term. We are blessed.

Sir, he is extremely insecure; it makes our country look  weak.

So the problem with the internet is we sometimes miss body language or clues that would give away sarcasm.  Because that's what this is, right?  Or do you simply just work for Fox and Friends?

omg.... That is the most delusional thing I've ever heard. I read Breitbart everyday and that comments section is more rational, geez. He is all about race, makes the world more dangerous with every action and is making the world more unstable every day.

You can make your decisions and choices  in life based on comments bitter angry morons on the left, but  I will base my decisions and what I have seen and experienced.  I don't care if you are angry that I feel blessed that we have a president that loves his country.  Besides, you just said a lot of nonsense. Tell mus where "he is all about race."  I won't question your opinion about President Trump's  instability  or the danger you claim he puts us in as I would bet that you  lack any real outside knowledge.  In my world, I have the freedom to respect my president if I wish.

I'm not angry. I actually find it mildly amusing hence why I read the blog Breirbart that gets all the information from fake news and then writes an entire simpleton "If you look outside, you will obviously see the world is flat" type of opinions laced with cute little names like "Antifa" and "deep state" and all those other little words.

And as far as race baiting goes......You literally said "he doesn't focus on his own race."

The most dangerous position in the world is to think you have any notion of the absolute truth.  And that people who disagree with you are morons or not as informed or as knowledgeable.  This is the exact attitude that lead to wars and idea of supremacy.

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

I'd be willing to bet that even most vocal Trump supporters would know better than to say, buy a used car from the guy or let him manage the McDonald's that they eat at.

I'm not convinced that a great many in his base adore him. Let's face it, democracy is cynical. It was probably enough for lots of his supporters that they were able to use him to destroy Pantsuit Nation.

Please, please, please explain why he is not. That is a discussion I am interested in hearing the other side of.

Why should I explain anything. Let the person that said he was insecure explain why,  and then I will explain why he isn't.  How the hell does one just start explaining something when there is nothing to explain? A topic please.

Fair enough, but I figured I'd give you a chance to at least refute me.
Is my father who hits his wife and children confidently expressing his dominance in the household to gain their respect, or is he afraid of his own power and abilities so he needs to punch down to convince himself he is capable? (We all know he's a hurt child on the inside, whose father never showed love to him, and his emotional stuntedness makes him lash out, but we are dependent on him, and will continue to yearn for his praise until we die).

Is my friend who enjoys being the "blunt asshole" of the group truly confident in his lot in life, mental faculties, and non-emotional take on things? Or is he actually extremely emotional without knowing how to healthily channel it, and insecure about his ability to be present and thoughtful in the world around him without throwing his opinion around for all to see? (We all know he's insecure, but we're all insecure ourselves, so we just like that someone focuses so much energy on us).

I hear a lot about Trump being the most manly, masculine, and strong president we've had. What's more masculine? The ability to be an ass to someone (verbally or physically), even in the name of bluntness, or the ability to actually control one's emotions in a healthy way, and have measured, thoughtful responses to things; both professionally, and in relationships. I'd argue that we, as a society today, don't really know anymore what makes one a healthy masculine person.

I'm married, and the hardest part about it is facing my own emotional stuntedness as an American man. I want to shut down, laugh things away, think of my wife as irrational, etc, but that's the easy route. It's much harder to acknowledge my own insecurity and actually be an equal partner in our struggles (women take on an inordinate amount of mental struggles in marriages). I can't think of any better metaphor.

Anyone who belittles Melania is a sh---y person. You don't blame a hostage for their predicament. You don't blame a rape victim for her traumatic experience. Melania is both. I hate those lefties.

I support the president and am proud of what he is doing. I am not interested in your philosophies, theories, or nonsensical attempts to justify anything. Before, I asked someone for specifics about President Trump's insecurities. I never got them, so I am finished here. Looks like you took Psychology 101. Congrats on that.  Maybe you should try understanding the real human mind and how one excels and becomes a success.

I don't understand why you think that's all irrelevant.

Everything DJT does is done to re-cement a base that he calculatedly formed through cherry-picking just the right policies to tout. Like his appeal to Christians: 100% hollow. It's just that he lies about everything and has no convictions. It is so clear and so obvious. You can be a "great success" and not be a sniveling cowering meek person in the corner.

THE REASON this is all messy and gray area is the same reason Bernie Sanders was so successfull (and would have won if Clinton hadn't "mainstreamed" it up): because the system is corrupt as hell and ignoring average people. It's the same reason cities like Charlotte are home to the wealthy while the average person can decreasingly afford to live there. The system needs to be reformed (and/or replaced), and most Trump supporters have more in common with Sanders supporters than they realize, and vice versa.

Trump supporters that I know, and that is a lot of people, have nothing in common with Bernie Sanders. He is joke and should be living in a socialist country in eastern Europe or somewhere else.  The fact that Sanders or Clinton were in the race blows my mind.  As long as everyone in this country has an opportunity to become wealthy, I support those with wealth.  They can stick the "equal distribution of wealth" and "free education and medical" up their you know what.  There is no such thing as "free." It might be free for the leaches but not for the taxpayers. Just my humble opinion.
