^ you have not answered my question.

Why do you trust the media you consume?

That's the whole point. I obviously read the media. How else would I get the facts ? But I am also aware that people in the media are people like you and I. They do more than collect data. They have distinctive points of view, much as some of them try to deny it.

I am done entertaining the notion that the two groups are somehow similar

I agree that one group is advocating for an "ethnically pure America" and views murdering people as a valid means of achieving this goal.  We would be better off if these people did not exist and I don't have a problem with solutions that result in that.

However, if you really think that the other group is just advocating for fewer people to be murdered you're a fool.  A willfully ignorant fool.  We agree that there clearly is a side that is more violent but to try and suggest that one side is just advocating as you suggest is disgusting.  You should be ashamed of yourself.  Seriously.

And so you think that the remainder of us are not aware of biases in the media that we consume? You suggested that this was the problem with UP -- how did you get so good a bias detection and how do you know you are doing it better that us?

OK, I'll go and sit in the corner and think about what I have done....

If we are now in the business of assigning shame then how about this little gem from yesterday:

I'm commenting on the bias on this board.

Because I'm guessing it's not the unvarnished truth.

It's just topical is my point.  3 months ago everyone was a die hard Transgender activist.  Last September everyone was a BLM supporter and anti-police.  The outrange de jour is Nazis.  It would be more important if it wasn't so predictable.

It's pretty sad how people are manipulated.  Take for example the event in Durham last night where a Confederate soldier statue was torn down.  At face value that's one thing but the backing of the event was a bunch of socialist groups like the Workers World Party Durham, anchists like Antifa and racist groups like BLM.  What's really interesting is the group was chanting 'No Cops,  No KKK! No fascist USA!” and it was reported as such for a while but it's been changed to "No Trump! No fascist USA!” in the press while you can clearly hear No Cops.

A reporter is making up lies.  When I read the Observer this moring around 6am the post by Virginia Bridges from Durham said 'No Cops,  No KKK! No fascist USA!” but it has since been changed to "No Trump! No fascist USA!”.  Even though you can clearly hear No Cops in the video.

This story was published on the http://www.heraldsun.com/, http://www.newsobserver.com/ and http://www.charlotteobserver.com/ and it's a lie. A complete fabrication.  The LA Times has the correct quote.

So why is that?  Why would the media change No Cops to No Trump?   Why is this important?

There is an undercurrent regardless if you want to see it or ignore it. But carry on with your meaningless and predictable conversation if it makes you feel better.   Some people need the comfort of a small box that they can reach the walls in the dark.

Finally, a reasonable response. Thanks for being mature and seeing it as it really is without bitterness shown by others.

Well, here's the reality: to date, one murder is being attributed to the alt-right.

This is the most recent example of your varnish. This statement might be true according to some media outlets (which ones?), unfortunately it ignores the fact that the alt-right is waving flags and saluting leaders of a movement which murdered 9 million people. Given how plainly and directly the extremest right is making this connection it seems like an awfully big omission from your equation.

Smells like varnish.

Yes, and Antifa and BLM are operating under the flag of a movement that killed easily ten times that many.

This is a great opportunity for you to share how you avoid media bias. Can you share your evidence which shows the contemporary American left celebrating and mimicking a genocidal movement?

Now you have surpassed false equivalency and moral relativism. You've quadrupled down and are telling us that anti-fascists and people protesting police brutality somehow support genocide and are worse than nazis. I am truly disturbed.

Here is a sourced fact check from the NYT comparing rates and types of violence from the far right and far left:

proclamations of the New York Times being fake news will commence in 3...2...1...

Thanks for posting this article. Good info.

Please don't take me questioning something you've said as me taking a side here...I'm just really confused. Who (and when) has killed more than 90 million people? Explain it to me like I'm 5. Sometimes the references aren't as clear as the poster thinks.

Wow. I didn't know that. Which ones? Can you provide any handy links so I could see who these people are?

I was being hyperbolic in response to Dale's statement that there were not 17 white supremacists in the entire country. I think the photographic evidence presented here and elsewhere from Charlottesville shows how silly that claim is.

If evidence of two white supremacists in the white house is not enough to shock and appall you then I can't be of further assistance.

The deaths of people killed by Communism in the 20th century : estimated 100 million https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_killings_under_Communist_regimes

Kermit, so you don't have any proof? Other than CNN. how many Jewish people did Breitbart employ while Bannon was there? how many of Trump's kids are Jewish? Sebastian Gorka, who writes about the challenge of political Islamism in the West is anti-Jewish?

Thanks. I hadn't thought of combining USSR, China and Cambodia. I was trying to think of single regime like Hitler and just couldn't come up with anything. Appreciate the clarification.

Already told you about Antifa's communist roots. They're the folks who dug up corpses in Spain and danced with them.

anybody can point to the ground and say there are Roots -- that ain't proof. I have yet to see actual evidence that the contemporary US left is protesting with the explicit purpose of bringing about a communist society, let alone a genocidal one.
