I've noticed recently that the apartment leasing company MAA (Mid-America Apartment Communities) has been buying/putting up their signage on many apartment buildings/complexes in the Charlotte area. I haven't been able to find many details about this, but just a few examples I can think of are 1225 South Church, now MAA 1225, the apartments across from the Harris Teeter in Southend (can't recall the prior name off the top of my head) and Phillips Place in Southpark. I've also noticed their distinct signage on complexes/buildings that I know have been around for years. Due to the general consistency in their branding, it's noticeable when they slap their very distinct and corporate logo on anything, new or recently acquired.
I was hoping to start a discussion, or at least catalog how many Charlotte area properties they own. Whether they build new, or simply prefer to acquire/rehab properties, and poll the UP crowd on their general perception of this company and ones like it who appear to be creating a small monopoly on the rental market in the Charlotte area and how this might affect things moving forward.

Figured that since this is getting to be more likely to happen lately, it deserved its own topic:

I thought it might be useful to have a thread for Midtown development, since not all of the new development happening is along College Ave.
Here's is a new row of townhouses in a development called "Abshier Heights", which is directly behind Evelyn Hills Shopping Center.  These first two look like thye have massive front porches/decks.  Pretty decent modernism.

Thought a thread for bicycle-related infrastructural and program developments seemed appropriate. Post any news related cycling in Richmond. Also, feel free to share any articles that were previously shared in broader threads here on bicycles.
Just resharing the article on the bike-share program coming to Richmond because I came across another curious article (see 2nd link) on how Milwaukee's bike-share program teamed up with their Housing Authority in order to ensure accessibility to lower- and low income neighborhoods.

It has taken forever, but Tallahassee is beginning to tap into its potential of becoming a more thriving densely populated city.  The rapid development of Gaines Street-College Town and a proposed Florida State University Arena District is changing the entertainment landscape of Tallahassee with more developments current under construction and in the works:
