Latest Duke internal communication is below.....but today's blast was definitely after 11am.....I was sitting in the Green at the time.

"Beginning Wednesday, July 24, blasting at the new tower construction site will occur in the mornings between 10-11 am. The 2-4 pm afternoon time period may still be used for a blast if the morning blast cannot occur due to weather or other delay."

Thank you so much! I thought it was around 11:30 today. Either way just interesting to keep track!

They were blasting for months at the Ally site and this only a block away and somewhat similar with a building on Tryon and ramp on College. 

I can't even guess how many dump truck loads of rock they took from the Ally site. Dump trucks lined all day for months.

When 277 was excavated in the early 80's there was extensive blasting for months. There was an occasional rain of debris on the roof of the Observer building when the blast mats were insufficient to restrain the scree.

Charlotte terrane: The terrane consists mostly of metamorphosed igneous rocks such as metagranite, metadiorite, metagabbro and metamorphosed volcanic rocks. The rocks range in age from about 420 to 615 million years old. The rocks were part of a large chain of ancient volcanic islands that formed off the coast of the ancient continent called Gondwana. These igneous rocks are good sources for crushed stone for road aggregate and construction purposes. Gold was also produced from the Charlotte terrane

Bed rock is very near the surface, hence most of the decks being above ground.

They have a trench dug and were filling it with concrete today.

Lots of work being done however I did not see the parking hut but it was too hot and humid today to walk around looking for it.  Today.

Thanks @NCMike1990  my older eyes did not see it  and my parking hut lives on and for real I am going to talk to Childress Klein about it as I have my contacts.
