zoning challenges, in uptown?  isn't everywhere in Uptown allowed to be mixed-use?

Had to work Uptown yesterday.  So I went up to the 31st floor of 400 South Tryon and got a few pictures from a window during a break.  Eh, not a bad pic with some glare.  It's really stunning to see this building up close higher up.  I really love the color of the glass when it's cloudy.

Thanks for the update. I just noticed a detail. They already have the brackets in place on the windows for where the signage will go.

Dang we spoiled - got this 500+ footer and about to get another one breaking ground by years end at the Riverside Site.  We movin’ on up in the Large Tower Count…. Watch out Detroit & Pittsburgh….

Charlotte is significantly bigger than Pittsburgh at this point. Pittsburgh has a really nice skyline which is partially a relic of how relatively big the city was in the past, but it's time for Charlotte to leapfrog.  Pittsburgh metro is consistently stagnant or even losing people while Charlotte explodes - give it a few decades and Charlotte may be twice as big.

Great pics! Walked by this the other day and was wondering about the college st side where you see glass going in on the second level of the garage. Is this part of a 2nd level retail space or part of the office related use?

Might be continuation of ground floor retail space from the Tryon side like patio space but not sure.  This building has been secretive and until it opens I cant be sure.

Now that you mention that, I think you’re right. With the elevation difference, the 2nd level on college st is ground level from the Tryon side. Looks like this could have some sizable retail space in this project. Would be cool if they made a long linear park (like what Kimpton/300 did) from Tryon to college st side with retail spaces all along it. Like you said though top secret lol. Hope they give the college st side some love bc it’s facing the convention center and with the right retail could be very busy.

The plans I saw had retail on College side B1 level, and Level 1 (2nd level on College side).  Per those B1 is smaller spot nestled by the parking ramps, and Lvl 1 is wider, and double height.   Nothing was well detailed so unsure on specifics.
