As much as I despise Trump, his policies, and baseless claims of his economic miracle (plus the fact I have not benefitted from the 'tax cut'), can we please relegate all political discussion to the coffee house? 

I know it is ironic for me to be writing this, however it just furthers my point that it distracts from the non-political discussion at hand. 

 

 

(And before I get accused of being biased/a libtard/snowflake etc, I just want to mention that I was an independent until last year and had voted for the GOP in the past.)

Wrong.  I had a lengthy discussion with my financial advisor about this.  He put up the charts showing the Dow Jones from 2008 to 2018.  There had been a steady upward trend from 2009 until 2016, then it got unsteady.  He explained that this was due to the uncertainty of election season, which is typical.  The market likes certainty.  Then after the election, there was an appearance of a surge in the Dow, but this was actually just the market returning to the path it had already been on.  If you look at 2009 to 2017, you can draw a straight line and see that the dip in 2016 was just a temporary deviation from that trend line.  But as I said, since this tariff talk this year, that trend is no longer apparent.  The DJ had flatlined since January.  In fact, the Dow has dropped since January.  Google DJIA and look the chart for this year, for five years and for ten years.

Don't get ME starting on that!   Generations that follow will be paying the consequences of that.   And if Trump succeeds in taking away our protections from being denied insurance for pre-existing conditions, we will all be paying in short order:  https://www.npr.org/2018/06/08/618263772/trump-administration-move-imperils-pre-existing-condition-protections   If real wages are remaining stagnant, but people can't get health insurance because of pre-existing conditions, how do you think that's going to work out?

If you are going to throw around words like "propaganda" then it seems reasonable to expect you to use data to support your perspective. I wonder why you didn’t do that?

Yeah, it would be a pleasant surprise to click on this thread and read about the potential duke tower.  I can flip back and forth between fox and msnbc, or read the WSJ and NY Times, to hear or read conniption fits about the right and left.

Realizing that my two sentences above are technically off topic, I do believe that the activities in Raleigh (regarding Duke office space) point to a big shift of personnel to Charlotte.  I’d love to hear whether anyone who works for Duke in Raleigh has any insight.  To entice said person to come out of the woodwork, let me throw out an olive branch:  I really like Raleigh (it’s tied with Charlotte and Atlanta for the best place in the history of mankind).

Now back to that tower.  It will get built, and the Charlotte economy will not slow in the near future thus hindering progress!

This is the current Duke headquarters building that is owned by  Wells Fargo and Duke leases approx 500K in this building.  

Politics?  unless it is about a Duke rate hike or utility commission does not belong in this thread.  

The Duke Energy center is to the right in this photo.   Lets settle this political argument with a Krispy Kreme doughnut eating contest.
