Detroit Inner Circle Greeway

The Inner Circle Greenway is an ambitious 26-mile non-motorized pathway which will encircle the inner-city mostly along old rail lines and to a lesser extent city street.  Parts of it have been completed for years such as the Dequindre Cut east of downtown, the Riverwalk, and the Southwest Detroit Greenlink.  Last month the city aquired from Conrail one of the major parts of the line which goes through Highland Park.

The latest news from a few days ago is that it got a $2 million to help.  The grant will cover all preconstruction and design for the unbuilt phrases.  While this is the most recent map, it actually doesn't show the recent acquisition of the old rail line through Highland Park the old maps show.  The Detroit Greenways Coalition, however, says that they would still have the protected bikelanes along 6 Mile (McNichols) and Livernois regardless, so we get that and the line through Highland Park.

Here is the coalitions latest planning map.
